Kelpex liquid kelp extract

Hey - not sure if this is allowed but we're offering free samples of our Kelpex liquid kelp extract product that we've been developing for the last 2 years to anyone who is willing to try it out and review it for us (good, bad and ugly feedback please)!

We only have a few gallons to give out as samples so we'd prefer to partner with people who can incorporate it into their grow and can ideally run a side by side trial for us (different clones in the same tent, for example).

Let me know if you're interested in this opportunity to try a completely new type of kelp product made from a totally different species than 99% of what is on the market and extracted without chemicals using some high tech equipment from the pharma industry!

I'd love to hear what separates you from the myriad of other bottles that make similar claims. There's no shortage of buzzwords, smoke, and mirrors in this industry, but science, facts, and transparency can elevate you from the herd. I'm sure you'll need to keep some secrets, but these are bold claims, so let's hear about your product, the inputs, and your process.

Thanks for the response. Happy to answer!

Kelp is a hyperaccumulator, so whatever is in the water around the kelp is what will end up in the kelp (e.g., heavy metals). So for us it starts with the kelp we are using, which is Giant Kelp (macrocystis pyrifera) from remote areas in Alaska. My business partner and I are going out by boat over an hour from a small town in Alaska to get to these kelp beds, meaning it is some of the most pristine kelp that grows anywhere. No pollutants from local harbors or boat traffic, just remote and clean Alaskan water. I don't believe there are any other companies on the market using Alaskan Giant Kelp.

macrocystis is a different species of kelp than most other products on the market (e.g., ascophyllum) and that also makes a difference. Different kelp species have different concentrations of growth hormones and micronutrients, and we chose to work with macrocystis because it has very high quantities of the PGRs that people look for in kelp (e.g., auxins, cytokinins, GA), but it also has high quantities of carbohydrates like fucoidan that have also shown biostimulant properties.

Finally, we perform a non-chemical extraction on our kelp, and this is to your point where the 'secret sauce' comes in - but essentially we are using advanced mechanical techniques to do two important things: One, we break open the cell walls to extract the high-value compounds that are only found within the cell walls into our solvent. Two: We are breaking down long-chain molecules like the polysaccharides and carbohydrates into lower-molecular weight versions of those compounds, that greatly increases bioavailability for the plants and makes it easier for the plants to uptake the beneficial kelp compounds. Most users are seeing this for themselves and are finding our product to be more dilutable than other products on the market, with some growers seeing awesome results using only 1-2mL / Gal.

interesting Thanks for ur thread and like every costumers before buying can you explain the pro’s of your product , why you would pick this over brands vs even dry extract like for example brand raw npk or KALIX humic, theirs is 1/8th teaspoon per gal (dry not liquid ) and u can buy 10lb for 200 bucks, a lot , pure soluable , extremely extracted . Aka 2-4T every 50 gallons of water . Raw npk is preferred/suggested if you need 8oz-2lb and if u need bigger bags 10-25lb it’s KALIX ( same company dif costumer focus )

if you want someone to trial ur product I can do 10-25% on my plants with urs and compare vs raw npk I can give a honest review and help, i’ve used these products for along time and have a stable enviroment but also ran same strains multi times . Can yours be foliar sprayed as well?

Thanks for the question.

There are a few big differences between our products. First, they are using less-pristine kelp, specifically sargassum (the invasive species that washes up on beaches in the Caribbean). This less pristine kelp means they have about 4x the amount of arsenic in their product than we do and at least 4x the amount of lead (we tested below detectable limits for lead).

Second, they are using a chemical extraction, which is why they are a 0-0-10 product and we are a 0-0-1 product. Many companies doing a chemical extraction with KOH (and I don't know if this is the case for Kalix but is common in the industry) essentially boil the seaweed in a KOH bath to do the chemical extraction. We believe this to be less sustainable and less efficacious for getting out all of the high value compounds. Also, because of the high Potassium value, it makes it difficult to use those products all the way up until flowering stage.

Third, I would be curious if they ever have issues clogging emitters. We ran an analysis and 99% of our particles are sub 3 microns. A human blood cell is about 7 microns in diameter so we are half the size of a human blood cell! We've never had issues clogging any sprayer or emitter.

Finally, in terms of pricing (and I know I haven't told you what we cost because we aren't officially selling DTC... yet) we are in line if not a bit cheaper than them in terms of cost / 100gal.

I would love to send you a sample if you commit to a side x side trial and in sharing the results! Please DM me your address if you are interested. Thanks!

Edit: Yes - can be foliar sprayed, soil / root drench, hydroponic, any way you feed your plants you can use our product.
