Let's grow some 'maters outside in Colorado

I'm not in Colorado and that probably makes all the difference, but my tomatoes are producing well. Much better than last year. This is about half of what was ripe on the vines today but all I could carry home.

yeah, I read your post when you said you picked 10lbs and not even a dent. i've got tons of flowers, a decent amount of small fruits but doesn't seem like the same amount of ripe ones as most seasons. i'm sure mid 40's isn't helping.

Can't imagine it is. The plants look great. I wonder if a lack of pollinators could be an issue? Probably not if there a bunch of small ones. They do like it hot. It's been nice here aside from some winds, not too hot and no real cold spells yet. It is starting to cool off at night, had 49 a couple nights ago.

Mine got a terrible start, I threw out a whole bunch before planting, almost pitched them all. Glad I gave a few a chance. Took them a minute but they took off. Then the garden got a little overgrown and they started getting some fungal issues before I chopped down the weeds. They don't look so hot now, but they sure have a lot of tomatoes on them, every plant is loaded. Still trying to flower at the tops but it's getting late for more fruit set.

Last year, most of my tomatoes cracked wide open, was just too wet where I had them. I haven't watered them this summer except for a week or two when I planted them. I actually haven't done anything with them, should've thinned them out and supported them a little better. I did find one cracked today, cause we got a pretty heavy rain the other day. Feel like I got pretty lucky with them, I didn't expect much the way they were in April. Been enjoying them for a few weeks already and they'll be needing picked up until the frost wipes them out. Planning on picking a bunch of green ones before the frost and making some of that Mississippi Chow Chow. Should have some cabbage coming on at the same time, bunch of Pueblos should be ready bout then too.

I have to lock the g'house for critters but I do brush the flowers with a paintbrush. oh well, the 5 we've gotten so far are really good, all worth the effort. lol

I do it for mostly fun too, getting a harvest is just a bonus. The MJ takes precedent though, much more important.
