Lets talk "Guitars and Gear"

I've been making noise on guitar for decades and Ive had a lot of gear pass through my hands in those years. Some much quicker than others

This is my current rig:

Signal Chain= Guitar>SR Tuner>Lekato Looper>NUX 6ixty 5ive Overdrive>Boss NS-2 Noise Supressor> all in front of
-Orange "Micro Terror" Tube Head 20W @8ohm (no fx loop)
-Marshall MX212R Speaker Cabinet 160W @8ohm (closed back)

Dont be fooled by the size or the wattage, this little thing RIPS! Hooked up to the Marshall 2x12 cab this thing all cranked up will prove worthy for just about any live venue. I dont play out anymore, but I dont have a doubt this little thing would cut through with volume and that vintage tube tone in a live band.

I use a second combo amp for built in Amp Models and Effects:

-Line 6 Flextone II XL 2 channel (50W x 2) 2x12 Combo Amp.
This amp allows me to play a little more creatively with all of the onboard effects and amp modeling. I can go from jazz on a Fender Classic Tweed to Mesa Dual Rectifier for some chug chug in the click of a dial. The emulation on this amp is pretty impressive for being such a dated amplifier. I also love how the open back cab sounds. It gets a nice low end naturally without needing to drive the amp too hard or dime out the bass.

I keep them stacked on each other which allows me to have easy access to all controls. I can switch between the two amps by simply going from one input to the other.

Love orange amps
And the 20w micro terror is perfect for anything less than a stadium …it’s very nice to get the saturated tube sound by cranking it up a bit and not blowing out the neighbors windows ..

I have had a many tube amps
Mesa mark 2 combo
Mark 2 c+ combo
Mark 4
Dual single triple Rectifiers
Many of different Marshalls also
And many different cabinets
rectifier cabs 2x12 vertical ,horizontal
4x12 slant and straight

Right now I have mesa mark 5 and Marshall jcm900 run to a 4x12 mesa rectifier cab
Marshall is rarely played anymore
And when the mesa gets turned on it is always set on 10w the 45w and 90w is just to fucking loud
If you wanna get that saturated sound

Guitars I still have a pretty nice collection
Of acoustics and electric guitars, basses ,
Hollow bodies
From Gibson ,fender , ibenez ,guild ,and many others
Couple acoustic drum sets ,Pearl masters our studio kit and a Tama star classic that my son still plays shows with

Let me be clear I am no musician
I love to play music whether it’s a guitar or the drums not great at any but sure love to play

But my son is a professional
Literally wakes up and falls asleep with a guitar in hand
Has been in bands since he was 10 ..started playing bars at 12 ,,,and played at the Rock and Roll hall of fame by the time he was 14 at the battle of the bands several years in a row and once as a house band
Has produced 3 full length albums
And many singles
before he was even old enough to be in bars

He’s 24 now still plays in 2 local bands for fun
And now is a History school teacher
He decided very early that there was no money in it and sleeping in vans was no fun ..

Sorry for the long post
but Music is a another passion of mine
Whether it’s me picking or going to watch the kid jam
Will post some gear picks tonight when I get home

Peace my brothers

I play through a 20watt Marshall 2061x clone. I’m definitely a Gibson/humbucker lover and have had many Les Paul’s and 335s over the years. I’ve never really bonded with strats though. I love the way they sound when other people play them lol.
I play classic rock and jam band stuff

@Chefdave thanks :passjhomie: yea I’m just glad he figured it out early that’s a rough life to live out every night partying…not much money in teaching either but at least it’s stable and not in a bar every night

@Idlewilder
The explorer is probably the least played of them all …it one of those guitars that’s rarely played but will never get ride of
I do love the 496t pickups in her just not comfortable playing sitting for any period of time

Love the es335
And anything from PRS :passjhomie:

What’s in the rack right now and not in cases IMG_0074.jpeg

The guitar are acoustic wise, Taylor 414ce-r, Blue ridge br 160, Mackenzie custom 12fret, open head stock( amazing parlor guitar) and a shitty guild gin Ricky with lipstick pickup that I keep in open g or d for slide. All other acoustics are all solid wood. My electrics are a Yamaha bass, a prs se 245 , a prs se silver sky, a line 6 jtv 59 variax, and a 90s esp-ltd worn strat copy. The effects pictured are a line 6 Helix lt and a TCL play acoustic. My Helix run through a Alto frfr powered cab, and run my acoustic through the play acoustic and a Mackenzie powered pa tower. I have many analog pedals from the 80s packed away, from DigiTech, rockman, boss, etc and of course Mike's and stands not packed away.
