Notifications?

Any way I set my Notifications I receive NONE to let me know if someone replied to a thread of mine or a watched thread. They used to work and stopped some time ago, since then I have tried several if not all of the settings in preferences to no avail.

Is there something I'm missing? or are they just not working at all anymore?

Note: I'm not talking about direct messages, that seems to work fine.

EDIT: I am talking about receiving notifications on my Android device, phone or tablet.
