I'm a little late to the party, but I have a couple pennies I can throw in on the topic. I've grown a few dozen skunk types over the last couple years looking for that mythical "RKS", and have yet to find anything like a dead skunk. My search was inspired because 2 of my grandfathers brothers did 17 years in prison for growing what they all called skunk in the late 1970s in rural Appalachia on old family land in coal country. Unfortunately, all the info I can gather was it smelled like roadkill skunks, and they allegedly got it from local Native Americans. Sterling Skunk by way of Bodhi and CSI has a good bit of range, but there's for dead rotting dead animal stuff, downright nasty. But everything else has been that stale beer kinda funk, think stale Heineken. This includes anything "red hair", Super Skunk types, Sour D etc. Not to talk down that stuff, there can be some interesting highs, particularly in crosses. But as pure lines they seem to have minimal potency. Just a lot of that gross kinda foul flavor. And IME people seem to either absolutely love or hate smoking it lol
