What did you do today?

My germination rate has fallen off a cliff. I'm thinking the temp fluctuations in my cold room were already an issue and then the basement flooding this year, and subsequent issues with mold, had an affect, even though I try to store things in airtight containers.

As an attempt to turn things around, I just bought a mini fridge for seed storage. Maintaining a more consistent temperature and humidity should be much easier.
Not sure how much can be done with the old stock, but I'll save what I can and rebuild in Vault 2.0.

I also just found a source for Puto Rojo IBLs. I haven't grabbed them yet, but looking forward to seeing what they offer while I try to find some survivors in my C99 seeds. Indicas and hybrids are a dime a dozen but finding sativas is much more challenging, in my experience.

I've had good luck just storing seeds in our main fridge where food is kept.
Everything is in 1-gallon ziploc bags with desiccant packs.

I thought about getting a dedicated dorm fridge in the garage, but if something went wrong and it quit working, I probably wouldn't notice for a while -- which could be disastrous.

I got my new seed fridge set up in a perfect spot and have most of the collection moved in. I gave the inside a good spray of lysol to help with any micro-bastards. Going to be a lot more careful with any new purchases, as I'm still pretty PO'd that most of my collection of irreplaceable IBLs appear to be compromised. :( Nothing like locking the barn after the horses are gone.

I also adjusted my solar panels from year round optimal angle to winter optimized angle, as we got our first significant snowfall. Being this far north, there is almost a 30 degree difference between optimal Summer and Winter angles. Everything being covered in a white, reflective coating is already having an apparent positive affect on power generation, even though it was a cloudy day.
It's been fun, learning all about the generational capabilities of my panels on this small scale, so I can expand in the most efficient manner and with no unrealistic expectations.

I was annoyed when my power went out this morning, on the coldest day so far. About ten minutes in my brain started telling me I'd forgotten something. I checked my email and found the notice of this outage from weeks ago.

It was two hours until I had juice again.
My UPS systems worked flawlessly. I played on the PC and vaped weed while the solar panels did their job.
I could have fired up a propane heater but it wasn't cold enough to bother.

The other UPS shit the bed. I got notice that they "tried" to deliver my transfer switch, but the fact that the only tracks in the fresh inch or so of snow in my driveway are mine says that is a lie.
That's actually one of my favorite things about winter, everything leaves tracks. Checking the driveway and seeing what critters visited overnight is the way I usually start my morning. :)

That's cool you're getting out and having fun.
Pretty lucky finding a wall graffitied in Kawasaki colours.
Ive been a bit of a houseplant as of late, it felt really good to get outside and enjoy the day.

That big ol boulder is prolly 25+ cubic ft and it has had many an outfit sprayed on it over the years. It used to have a really cool "cowboys from hell" skeleton theme on a large section of it but some kids thought a sinking titanic and blue giraffes were cooler... idk about kids these days lol.

Replaced a bunch of L44 batteries in the small hygrometers in my jars. Then I put up 4 jars for long term curing. Kept the rest in groves. Groves are easier but don't cure as well as the jars imo. Especially long term.
I use both and I agree. But for the ease with bulk product the terp bags are pretty good. Especially if you transfer to a jar anyway. I gave up on the hygrometers, the ones i had were so far off, not very reliable anyway. Plus, I like to learn how-to without all the fancy tools. Once you learn the right feel and smell it's actually pretty easy. Once ya know, ya know, it's not something that's forgotten. Was at Walmart and saw some cases of 1/2 gallon jars, going to snag some soon. Way too much this year to mess with quart jars. The best of it will go into the jars, some already is. Most of my stuff is going into bags for 6 weeks, would like to get it all out into jars after...there's so, so much, probably only the stuff I really like will make it into jars.

I'm really liking the Calyx Cure bags over the Grove bags. The zippers are so much nicer. Some has been in a couple weeks now and they smell amazing, better than when they went in. I had a big order of Grove bags that failed the first time I opened the zipper. I couldn't go back after that. The Calyx bags are cheaper too, 1.50 a piece for the 1 pound. I bought 20 before harvesting and just placed that order again a few days ago, they better be the same thing. My first order of grove bags was good, second was not, left a bad taste.
