My quahog buyer hooked me up with these a few times this year.. pretty big bay scallops...not much beat thesebut this is probably my favorite eating fish that swims over here... Bycatch from a day of black seabassing.. a while ago

Nice brother!! I catch striped bass(we call them rockfish) 3 miles from my house in the bay, catch and release season just opened, spring trophy season will be here soon. I grew up fishing the Chesapeake, my dad lived on the water on shipping creek on kent island. I was very fortunate, I miss that house so much, my dad passed 3 yrs ago.

Been awhile so I thought I’d poke my head up
to see whats up ! Landed myself a nice Flathead a couple days ago on a decent outgoing tide bringing all the bottom dwelling ambush predators out to play . Put up a decent fight . Caught in about 5 ft of water ( saltwater) View attachment 241613View attachment 241614View attachment 241615View attachment 241616They have nasty spurs on the gill plates that can inflict pain that’ll remind you you’re not as tolerant to pain as you thought you were . Hence why I’m using the cloth to pick it up plus it has pin like teeth for nailing smaller prey

It's funny how your Flathead and our Flathead have similarities with teaching you pain tolerance, but aren't related LOL. I remember a few years back, I was watching a fishing show and got excited because one part was going to be catching Flatheads, and then I learned what an Aussie Flathead was LOL. No Catfish that day.

Yeah, they're a species of Armor Plated Catfish They use their mouths to suction cup themselves to something in the current of a river in South America, and they can actually get pretty large given enough space and food. I've seen them over 2 feet long before.

Today's catch...lotta smaller blue crabs today.. it's a muddy job but somebody gotta do it...
