Lone Pine has some nice campgrounds on the way up to Glacier Lodge that Lone Pine creek runs right by. Also just outside of Bishop is Paradise. Lower Rock Creek runs thru there and is pretty nice as well. Just more towing miles. If you are into MTB there is a trail that runs from the top of Sherwin Grade (basically Lake Crowley) to the town of Paradise. Top 3 trials I have rode. You can shuttle it

Be interesting to see how much they care. With the population exploding they are probably under staffed and have to pick their battles. If you stick to yourself they might leave you alone.
