I might need to dig a little deeper in those Detroit Lemonade at some point. I got reports of intersexing on a couple of them when I had them tested so I didnt release them. Hard to say though because they were put into flower before they even reached 3rd node. From my personal experience, when I flower too early (before the plant reaches sexual maturity and nodes begin to stagger offset) I seemed to get the occasional balls on lowers. I've actually experienced this on this current pHamily run. I plucked the lower balls and its been good since. Some strains just dont like to be flowered before they are ready. It would be my job to hunt and work the ones that dont care in the Detroit Lemonade. As for my smell, it is getting better as each day passes and I feel confident it will come back 100%. Thanks for asking
@Psychobilly ??
Bro, the Father in Law LOVED Detroit Lemonade, and him having been growing guerilla style out in the back woods for years, he didn't give a shit about having a few seeds pop up now and then, and though I understand that intersex issues are something that may prevent a release, for someone like myself, or him, where a couple seeds here and there isn't really an issue, it was good bro.
I'm not sure if you've ever seen me joke about the "Seaweed at the Beach" thing, but basically it's a joke I made up about the very VERY few strains I've grown that, once ground up and ready to be rolled, I take a pack of papers and scrape my tray to move all the weed to one side for rolling, and the beach part of that comes in from the look of piles of sand (Kief) that covers the front of the pile of weed. It looks kind of like a sandy beach with weed all over, and well, Detroit Lemonade did that.
It was actually the first one I saw do that really. There was SO much resin on those buds that it didn't matter if it was dry or barely dry enough to grind, it legit was just covered in resin, and we had massive balls of scissor hash trimming them. I can't really help much with if I had intersex issues, as it was only my second time growing, like ever, that I had those clones, and though I did have seeds, being outdoor, it very easily could have made crosses.
I do remember the massive bud structure, and the fact that for some reason that strain REALLY enjoyed our climate; That year we had early snow and even freezing rain, and I only lost like 2 buds ? I've noticed strains that get "frosty enough" don't really succumb to bud rot like you'd think, and cool weather seems to increase resin production, which, being non water soluble keeps moisture out. The colors of course were ridiculous and some of the prettiest I've had.
I still have some beans I saved from the clones I had, though if they are hermie beans or a mystery cross I'd have to hunt through to see how many, if any, males I got. That's one thing about growing outside; unless you see the Banana, it's almost impossible to tell if the seed you got was a stray pollen coming through, or, a selfed hermie from stress.
Glad to hear about your smell getting better bro! Wonderful news!!! Not just for you but your upcoming run.... How would I annoy you with questions if you can't smell ? LOL
Hope you're back to 100% sooner rather than later !
