It's fucking scary season again. Been above 30C here for a while, no end in sight, and every day there are more fires. The air is hazy and stinky outside.
I'm trying to not get as stressed out as I was last year, as that was really tough mentally and accomplished nothing.

I’d imagine your experience would be very similar to ours only the smell and fuel loads would vary . We have locally areas of low lying scrubland with patches of large Eucalyptus trees so you can actually see from a distance an approaching fire storm working through different densities and variations of fuel . We also have Acacias whose nickname is Kerosine bush so you can guess what happens when the fire reaches them .
I feel for the wild life as well . Fires been around longer than man but I’m sure the animals are still thrown into turmoil . Fast moving animals may be ok but the trudgers are in a bit of strife .
I saw footage one day of the fire skipping across a paddock at exactly the same rate as the wind and if the winds whipping along at 50-60 kms an hour then good luck outrunning the front .
Huge respect for those that put themselves in harms way and there’s countless stories of conditions , wind direction changes both trapping and severely compromising there ability to retreat .
You’d have to trust your training and block out the apprehension.
Imagine animals running past you and your pushing ahead ?
