Gum Wrapper Grows
Hello, fellow hunters!

Welcome to my dusty little non grow related corner of pH.

I know I've interacted with most of the active members here, but never made an introduction thread, so here it is.

I'm Mac, a hobby grower (Once semi-pro lol) from Michigan, on a never ending search for my favorite weed. I grow indoors, and out, when possible. I've historically been a hydro grower since my second cycle, 15 years ago, but am now circling back around to soil, and playing with hybrid soil / hydro systems, the last couple years.
I typically grow as many different strains as possible, but would be happy with just 2, if I could find perfect examples of motivational and sleepy strains. Until then, the search continues.

My sense of humor is...fucked up...and has a tendency to raise eyebrows, at least. So, if you read something I've written, and your first impulse is to be offended, you're not the first, and won't be the last.
But...I do try not to actually offend anyone. I make extreme and ridiculous points to highlight the paradoxes and ironies of the world we live in. Usually, by the end of the conversation, even those who were offended at first are laughing along with me.
I say all this just as a friendly reminder that I almost never mean offense, despite the crude, colorful language that often spills from my gaping maw.

If you've read my posts before, you'll notice that I can be a long winded, tangential thinker. I do apologize for all the reading, but I try to get the point out as clear as possible for those taking the time to read. Sometimes it takes literally hours to write one of these damn things, probably because I'm too critical, and always self-editing.

If you've made it this far, thanks for your attention!

Now then...to the real point of this thread...

Rather than an introduction of myself to you guys and gals, I created this thread as my little spot to serve as more of a journal of my day to day adventures in my little corner of this crazy world.

I love meeting people of all kinds, whenever and wherever possible.
From crackheads to celebs, rich, poor, young, old, male, female, someone in between....I've met them all, loved every minute of it, and that's just in the last week or so.

A few years ago, I used to wonder how the hell one would make new friends once you're older, out of school, and the circles where folks normally meet and connect.
Now though? I wonder how I could've had that thought in the first place. It just seems so easy to meet new people wherever I am, whenever. Even if we don't speak the same language.

After a long day inside, I have a nightly ritual of getting out of the house, either on a bike, or walking.
I'll roll up a few Js, grab a tall boy of Natty, and hit the streets to find that night's adventure.
These last few hours of the day have become some of my most valued moments, and serve multiple purposes.
The cardio and leg exercise, meditation, creative thinking, entertainment value, and social interaction are all needed and much appreciated for what they are.
I now have this drive to try and experience something new every day that most people might not ever experience. It's not very realistic at the moment, but I still have a ton of fun trying!

Yesterday was a beautiful, perfectly named Sunday, so I just had to get out there and enjoy it.
Beer, Doobs, Discs, Check, Check, Check.

Off to the park for a few holes of disc golf.
It's been a few weeks since I last threw, so it's good to get back out there.
I'm having a great time because I'm noticing a good 10 yd gain on all my drives.
Now, I did just start working out about a week ago, and wondered how and when I might see results in my disc game.
Holy Shit! I never thought I'd see such impressive results after only working out a few days so far!
Now I'm really looking forward to seeing how things progress as the workouts continue.
Normally, I need like 2 drives and a putt to get in the basket, but I'm thinking I might be able to shave a few strokes off my game sooner than later. ( I don't actually take the game very seriously, and barely keep score, but it's nice to see yourself getting better)
So, yeah, fun round of disc for about an hour, and I'm getting ready to leave the park, and find the next adventure for the day.

I didn't even get out of that park until 3 hours, and 10 new friends later.

There's a group of folks having a BBQ at some nearby tables, chattering indistinctly. I can tell it's not English they're speaking, so I listen a little more, to figure out what it is.
Aha! Portuguese! That's what it is!
So, as I'm passing by, I ask one of the guys at the table if they're Brazilian, and, Boom, we're off to the races...New Friends Force: Activate!
I start to relate to them with tales of meeting the only other Brazilian I knew up until then, my good buddy Eduardo, who worked as an engineer for Ford when we met, years ago.
Coincidentally, this group was also in town working in the auto industry as robotics engineers, and also seem like a great group of guys (and one fine ass gal...Married to one of the guys, damnit! LOL)
Despite the language barrier, we ended up hanging out, laughing, drinking, smoking, and eating some damn killer Brazilian BBQ for about 3 hours, until dusk rolled in.
The Modelos were cold, and their native liquor is fucking strong! It had been a few years since I had any Cachaca...
That BBQ though!
I'm not the biggest steak fan in the world, but I can appreciate a nice one, and I gotta say, the 2 best steaks I've had were both cheap cuts, cooked by Brazilians hanging out around the grill, with nothing but salt, and even that is an afterthought.
After this latest taste of brilliant Brazilian grilled beef, I just had to have their secrets!
So, If you wanna be grillin like a Brazilian, listen up...
They normally use a cut of beef that I think may have been tenderloin, from the video they showed me, but they couldn't find it here, so they were using Top Sirloin last night.
Get a good high temp going on the grill, and toss the meat on. They said they normally start with about 1" thick steaks, but the pieces we had last night were maybe 1/2" when done.
Once the juices start bubbling to the top side of the meat, flip it. Do this for about 20 minutes, flipping every minute or 2, when you see juices rising to the top.
This, I guess, keeps pushing the juices toward the middle of the steak as you flip it, rather than sitting too long on one side, and cooking the juices out the top.
They follow the same type of reasoning with the seasoning.
Cook the meat without salt pulling the moisture from the inside, and just add your salt after the meat is resting and redistributing the juice back throughout itself.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but apparently, that's just how simple it is.
Although the meat is well done, without a hint of pink (this time), it was tender, juicy, and fucking delicious!

I'll be trying the technique Friday at least, and hopefully if I need more tips after that, I'll be seeing this group again.

We exchanged IG info to keep in touch, and they want to find some fun party spots. I think I can probably help them with that....

That was yesterday's adventure, bloomed from nothing other than a decision to get out for a walk in the park.
Now I know 10 more people from across the world, and though I don't remember all their names, I hope to meet up again, and share a few more laughs.
Big shout out to Mauricio, Vinny, Ronald, Isabella, and all the rest!

What adventures await next? Could be anything... Just because the weekend is over, doesn't mean the action is.
I find some of my most memorable experiences happen on an otherwise mundane day, with no planning whatsoever, and I'm always waiting for the next one!

I hope all of you out there are enjoying life as much as possible, in your own little part of existence, and with any luck, I'd like to meet every one of you eventually!
Until then, I hope it's at least worth your time reading this babbling bullshit, and you get a chuckle along the way...

I like your style. I have a somewhat similar thought process on this as well. Looking to live life to its fullest while coexisting with the human-made economic rat race, at least until I hopefully find a way to be self-sufficient. That way I can travel more to experience new places/things and meet new folks, as well as continue to help others in need. I am pretty easy to talk to, maybe cuz I’m familiar w many topics, so it’s relatable to a wide range of ppl. pH has only made things better, such a fine group of ppl we have here. Looking forward to hearing more of your adventures :phenohunt:

It was worth reading, I love a good story, ha.

Much appreciated, and glad I didn't put you to sleep! This thread will mainly be my journal to jot down daily adventures, so there should be plenty more stories to come, and entertain, if we're lucky.

Yes, man, absolutely! You're pickin up what I'm puttin down!
Most of my adventures so far have been limited to the Detroit area, but, like you, I'd love to be able to travel freely, and get into shit around the world!
I've got a couple things I guess I could do if I really decided to, to make a way out in the world, living day to day. I've done a little street art with spray paint, and some digital ideas that would probably earn a few tips along the way. I just haven't bitten the bullet yet...
Plus, I'd have to figure out a way to stay in weed, without being around to tend a garden, which probably wouldn't be super hard.
I imagine that I would barter for some, or maybe Johnny Weedseed around planting guerilla patches in spring, and return to check them in the fall.
Not sure it would be a viable option, but it's a romantic idea to me lol

I think you hit the nail on the head, regarding having a wide variety of knowledge on various subjects making it so much easier to relate with just about anyone. I find I can talk to just about anyone about anything, for the same reason.
I can relate to just about any subject somehow, with someone, and everyone I meet is a new perspective well of information about something I may not have known before meeting them.

I absolutely love it, and can't get enough. I'm more of an information junky every day- Learn, Learn, and Learn some more!

What's up Joe!
Thanks for the warm welcome...
If you mean my current pic, I doubt it. This is the only site where I use this pic, and as far as I know, the only place you'll see it on the web, unless someone else grabbed it from here.
My previous avatar I have used at RIU under the screenname Joecanna17 though, if that's the one you mean.
Thanks for stopping by!

Glad you got here! I started on RIU, still go there on occasion. There are some decent folks there for sure, but as soon as the trolls wake up, I remember why I stay here! You belong here!!!

I started on ICMag in 07, created an account in 09, and got deleted on their last upgrade to Xenforce, or whatever forum platform this is.
Sent a WTF to support, and never heard back.
Haven't logged in or even visited much since.

I joined RIU in 2017, and got some really good DIY LED help from Randomblame to build my LEDs. I still check RIU out if I'm looking for something specific, as they've been around a while, and still have a pretty active population.
BS Filtering lies on the reader, but that's with any group of personal opinions, I figure.

If I want to actually have a social connection with a cozy group of likeminded, mature...ish individuals who understand the ups and downs of growing, without judgement, or immature trolling, I come here.

This is honestly where I post most anywhere online as of now. Even with multiple IG accts that either haven't been posted on, or updated in months or years.
Gotta fuckin account for the cat months ago that has 0 posts

I'll get back to the stories of the wonderful people I meet soon too.
It's been a less eventful week since the Brazilians, but I've still managed to meet someone usually once a night.

I'll get back to the stories once I get a few extra minutes, but feel free to go where the conversation takes you while you're in this thread.

Hopefully it'll stay in enough order to understand each other, but if not, just quote whoever you're replying or referring to, for clarity.

Anybody have a particularly awesome weekend?

It ain't easy being cheesy hahaha

I can only imagine when I'm out in public the smell that must come off my clothing LOL. The Middle Eastern dude at the smoke shop sees me multiple times grabbing like 5 packs of papers and some bunt wraps and we usually bullshit a little bit while I'm being rang up at the register. I'm sure he knows what I do with the papers, given he probably came here from a place with straight DANK growing all over.

We took the girls to a friends house yesterday for dinner and letting the kids play. She just got engaged to a guy who likes Catfish, Catfishing, and Weed, and I was like "Well shit I'd blow him too...." LOL. We smoked a bunch of weed, I showed him some of my journal, and he's been selling clones and had a few extra so he was like "Here man enjoy" and gave me a clone of his Grapefruit Diesel, and a clone of .... Squirt ? I'm not sure if it's spelled the same or not, but now I have two more clones that I have to stick outside at some point today LOL. We smoked one of the Squirt last time he flowered it and it was incredibly tasty weed!

Nice, man, sounds like a good time! It's always cool to meet someone with with a mutual interest, especially when they have multiple!

Did he give you any secret locations of Cats that could swallow you whole yet?
Gonna see who can Noodle the biggest Cat, and live??

New strains are a fun surprise too!

That Grapefruit Diesel is probably real nice!
Without looking it up, I'd guess that Squirt is either a Grapefruit Diesel cross, or maybe from the Zkittlez crew? I think they had a Zprite strain, and maybe Squirt is Zquirt?
Again, haven't looked it up, just trying a couple guesses.
Looking forward to how they turn out for you!
Don't forget to clone by Aug 1 to save em the future!

Speaking of meeting people with mutual interests, I met a few the last couple weeks.

I met a Trans...Person who loves to Disc Golf and go on road trips, and to festivals.
Now, I'm not exactly used to meeting and talking with T Folks, so I called her "Man" and "Dude" the whole conversation...
I finally had to stop myself and apologize, and explain that I call even the hottest chicks I know "man" and "Dude" on a regular, and meant no offense.
She was very graceful about it, and said "No worries, I call everyone Girl"
"Hey, Fair trade, no robbery, if you ask me. I won't be offended either."
After a few minutes chatting and watching the public flogging show outside ye olde local leather shoppe, she hopped on her scooter, and puttered off into the night...

I've also met a few Bouncers and Bartenders around town lately. Real good folks so far, and some are pretty damn funny.
One of the bouncers is also apparently a Chef, and grower, so obviously there's days of possible conversation there!
I usually stop by and bullshit for a few as I make the nightly rounds, which inevitably leads to meeting other colorful characters looking to wet their whistles, and the cycle continues lol

Yeah when I get back I'll get them potted and a few others that need to go out too :) I keep calling it "Squirt" and it actually kind of smells like the pop lol.

No noodling here though; it's illegal in Michigan. Though for a Catfish that will totally eat a human I do have my Red Tail lol.

What part of Michigan are ya in? I'm 20mins north of Detroit.

Not terribly far from you apparently haha :) I'm a few extra minutes added in North too. Far enough from Popeye's to be sad about it, but still able to get Coney Dogs LOL.

Shit man if you ever smell Cheese and Gas out of no where.... Hahaha. I wonder how many times Semco has gone out near by trying to "find that darn gas leak a skunk and a cat pissed on".
