I used to just drive them a good ways out of town and release them somewhere undeveloped. They're probably coyote bait at that point anyways. The state just doesn't want you releasing them in someone else's backyard lol. I haven't actually caught one in a couple years. Between the better fencing and burying their burrows they mostly seem to have vacated our property. The neighbor trapped and shot about a dozen over the last couple years so I'm sure that helped too. The one eating the chicken feed is the first I've seen in quite a while.

I know a couple local farmers that drown them but that's too brutal for me. I have a hard time killing an animal unless it's to end its suffering or I'm gonna eat it.

I can’t punish an animal for being an animal. Drowning is pretty awful. I think my yard being the only one that doesn’t get sprayed with chemicals is also attractive for a lot of critters. They want to eat organic too ?

They are not easy to get in a trap......what was the bait? I shoot the mf'er right there on the spot. I can snare them but never got one in a trap.
Stupidity and curiosity lol. It walked right in without bait. There’s a tunnel under my shed that they run under. I put the trap in front of an ‘entrance’ and it walked right in. I’m not in an area where I can discharge a firearm, nor am I allowed to own a gun, cause weed is bad m’kay. Yet weed is now legal in my state and the state I got popped in.

You might want to check with the state you were popped in to see of they are expunging convictions, you may have your rights restored.
Yeah I’ve been dragging my feet. It’ll come down to how much $$ it’s worth to me to have it expunged. If it came down to really needing one, access isn’t an issue and the laws wouldn’t matter cause I’d be going to jail regardless ?

Something is munching on the leaves so I hit them with Dr Zymes. I need to be more diligent with the outdoor IPM, even though these are more of a test to see how they do in the elements.

Been a minute but I remember you had some seed munching crawler a couple of years ago. That sluggo plus works well for keeping away crawlers along with not being toxic for the pets.

I’ve seen more earwigs lately this year and caught one munching on my Swiss chard. I had a caterpillar inside last fall from recycled outdoor soil…that also contained aphids ?‍♂️. Last time bringing in outdoor recycled soil.
