Too long I been scheming and dreaming.
Planning, strategizing, and working to expand my catalogue.
Tacking my course too tightly, my hands have gone numb on the rudder.
Decided to just have some fun with it, so I did something that I just don't do.
I simply opened the vault and said,
"who wants to play ?"

In that moment, these spoke the loudest. 20240216_122952.jpg

The first line is incorrect format, I listed the male first.
Second line is even worse. It should read, Zamaldelicia )×(JTR×Respect
Keeping notes saved my butt on this one. It looked funny, and I was able to confirm, there is no such thing as a male JTR×Sinatra.

Got some Bodean, OldG, Buck, and DDan creations. Everything on the right is store-bought.

Mostly status quo, I have a few husbandry tweaks I want to try out.
Honestly, I am most excited about the IPM Arsenal that I received from D Dan. It has been a while since I had a photogenic crop.

Grandevo, Botaniguard , and Spinosad.
Ho-Hum for anyone south of the border, unobtanium for Canucks like me.

A gas station in my town got robbed the other, day turns out that the only thing missing was a wad of paper towels !
I got a premium block of soil defrosting in front of the space heater.
Soon to be 48 hours wet, I got to go check on those little guys.

males and females
Thats right.
Lucky on the Taffies, 6:6 ladies.
The list was everything growing in the garden, at that moment.
Like a running snapshot, to keep a handle on things. But like you said because I have units and quantities, I can read the book backwards and glean statistics.
The Affie×Sinatra are unsexed on that white list; still just sticks.

Helps to sequester cull candidates, find out what males I have to work with , and decide what goes into flower.

I like the doodling. That purple list will get ticks once those sprouts get their own cells.
The page will get messy with strikethroughs and observations.
Flip a page, write a new list.

Snuck a quick peek on the sprouts.
Gotta be over %80 tails.
Happy to see no duds, I think I got action in every towel.

And I might get some biolgicals.... i found out that spot i order from with the massive shipping is in Niagara on the Lake by my friends place.

So .... I think I want some cucumeris and lady bugs....with a side of swirskis SUCK THAT pests.

bugs are fierce and its not even spring

Starting to think that they are wintering in my soil.
I am trying to work on house keeping, avoiding cross contamination, and early prevention.
My last crop ,,,I swear that I saw sucking damage on the first serrated leaves.
Went full on defense mode, and still struggle.
Something went wrong with the dr.Doom flowerpower 420.
Either too close to the sulfur treatment, or a photophobic response. Took more than a few days, and regardless of how many times I rinsed them: eventually most of the fan leaves burnt and curled back.
White flies are gone, haven't seen thrips for a few weeks. Those jah-forsaken mites tho ,,,
I can endure and overcome temps, humidity, and archaic equipment, yet still- those mites are my Nemesis.

No surprise, SuperJuani was 0 for 2. That makes 0:6 Philosopher CBD line. They really shat upon their sheets with that line. That seriously sucks, poo-poo on them. I would contact them to complain, but that seems like a lot of work. I will just moan about them on the internet, like a normal person.

Took me a couple hours, but I plugged them all in at one go.
Cranked up the heat to 30 C and left them sealed under the dome, in the dark, for 24 hours.
Lots of them were hitting the pane, when I peeled back the covers this morning. 20240220_020204_HDR_(1).jpg
They are trying to clear the crud from their eyes, and are looking about the room all confused.
The 400w is sitting high over the bed. Consistent 200 PAR across the tray. They should smarten up shortly.

, I have a few husbandry tweaks I want to try out

I am determined to make this 12/12 thing work, and I believe I am starting to identify some of my shortcomings, and more importantly: the reason behind them.

My main concerns are inconsistent canopy height, and finished bud density.

Over the course of the last few runs, I have been seeing a very repeatable pattern.
%30 of my plants finish 28 inches tall. Of the remaining 7 out of 10, none of them are taller than 14 inches.
You may have noticed that on this run, everything is planted in 4-cell trays. I have been using them for a while.
Every once in awhile, I will splurge on a single Fem, and plant that in a 4-inch pot.
Every once in awhile, I will have five sprouts, and put the extra one in a 4-inch pot.
Once in awhile, I got my hands on something fancy, and germ two of them , each their own 4-in pot.

I am intentionally stunting them by keeping them in smaller containers, the mistake I have been making is unequal stunting.

Under 12/12 from seed lighting, these plants will sex out in 4 weeks.
A plant that Sexes early will get put into it 4-in pot. Once everyone has determined , that is when I begin transplanting the females to the common bed.
Some take longer to sex out, and I think that is the mistake I have been making. If something is really dragging its feet it may get transplanted into the common bed from a six pack( which I stopped using), or a 4-packcell.

Starting to realize that random transplant timing, and dissimilar container size are leading to uniformity issues.

They say that procrastinators should tackle projects in manageable little bites, but in this case it is not helping my game.

This is awesome man 🔥 I was figuring that the sooner it gets upPotted the better seeing as time is of the essence. ? What u think

seeing as time is of the essence.

Yeah, 12's from seed is kind of like growing autos, in that respect. It is a symphony of destruction. I can read them and respond to their needs, but I cannot influence the timetable.

the sooner it gets upPotted the better

The sooner the bigger.

It is a formula of time and space.
Time, I cannot influence. Space, comes with restrictions as well.
With the six packs I had room to germinate almost 100 at a time. With these four cells it is closer to 75. I'm not sure about 4-inch pots but that is the direction I am heading. I think I could hold about 25-30 of those. Trouble there is, half of those could be male, leaving me with a dozen plants to finish.
I am mostly fine-tuning my stunting game, my biggest plants, I am happy with. No branching whatsoever, and finishing at about 2 ft.
I am attempting to get them to grow a little bit bigger, but still stay single cola.
Yes, clones are one solution, but I'm not going there.

Here is another tweak that I am hoping to finish tonight.
20240222_180245.jpg
On the left is current. Pot sitting in the blue tray. My humidity barely Rises over 20%. Even after a few weeks my plants will have a root ball, as Illustrated.
I am planning on nestling all of the cups into a mix of compost and clay. Follow that up, with a heavy cap over top. Not good soil for growing plants, but excellent for wicking moisture.

I have this fantasy where I just fill up that entire bed chok-full of fem seeds.
That my friends, would be a sight.

Backfilled, shuffled everything around and dropped the light down a bit, now averaging 350 PAR
They responded well, these photos are taken 90 minutes apart. I certainly got their attention, and the bed looks fuller ,as they are all now facing into the sun.

Full week above ground.
20240227_005643_HDR_(1).jpg
Cheated on my diet.
These have been 24/7 lit since day one.
12·12 from seed is working for me, but I needed to make a few tweaks.
Sprouts make me nervous. Weather has been up and down. Really tough to maintain good germing parameters.
Smile pretty, and light the fuse.
First week is kind of tense for me so I made the safe bet. With that 400 w mh above, it stays steady and cozy.
25C, 25rh
They are loving it. With passive moisture now available under the trays , I managed to blast some roots out the bottom.
20240224_010011_HDR.jpg
The mini veg should help to increase the final plant size.
I am starting to resist those 4-in pots. I like the footprint but I wish to increase the volume. I think Solo cups may fit the bill.

@DopeDaniel , I have been reading through @BH IPM instructions and I think I am ready to start spraying a bit of this stuff around.

To review:
Products,
Grandevo
BotaniGard
Venerate
Spinosad

Pests:
White fly are absent since Dec
Thrips last seen Jan
2spotMites , all stages present

Garden:
East bed, harvest ending Mar 15th
West bed, one week sprouts

As I understand it, it would be wise to spray one of these products, and then wait four days until I spread a different product.
As such, by the time I got back to product number one, two weeks will have passed. By the end of one month, each product has been applied twice.

Q's:
Can I run this play forever?
Are there any of those products ,specifically, that I would want to stop using closer to harvest?

Q
BotaniGard is 'use mixed product within 24 hours'
Would that be absolutely true of all four of those products?

Q
Who first?
If any of those treatments are harsher then another, I would prefer to use that one last, on a more mature plant ( sprouts are just setting their first true leaves, they will be much beefier in a couple weeks)
Are any of those products more likely than the other to burn up my babies?

Q
Dosage
Do all products mix at the same rate regardless of plant maturity?
I am going to ask you about milliliters per liter at some point, can I assume your answer will be good for the goose, the gander, and the goslings?
BH mentions %11 Spinosad @5t per gallon.
Much of the propaganda is published in gallons per acre. I will have an outright aneurysm if I even try to think about that for a moment.

Throw me a bone here, how many ml each product would I want to make up 1 litre of spray.

I reckon it's close to 16 Eagle tears per Gem jar, but I just wanted to double check.

Some plants got a bit of pucker. 20240228_005501_(1).jpg
Still top dressing and PK boosters only. Slow train on N, they are sucking the water back so fast I'm pretty sure they would blow themselves up. There is also strong evaporation from the media , I fear any salts I put in there would be rapidly left behind to accumulate.

Light is max 380, min 250, averaging around 330 PAR.

Plants are happy, I am happy.

A few stragglers, no real duds. I don't usually cull plants before their sex is determined, but I am not looking for males. 20240228_005629.jpg
Increase the container size, decrease numbers. There is only so many I can fit in that space. I am holding too many plants, and some of them need to go.
Still need to source cups, that will determine who fits and who don'ts.
Wind was howling this morning -35C w/the chill.
Above Zero tomorrow, shopping can wait. 😁
Plants are sturdy and milder weather is on the way, looking to get these on 12' as soon as possible.

Lotta speculation on herms.
I read a bit, I find everyone has their own ideas. Often cited, after genetics, is flowering immature plants.

For myself, 12's from seed does not make for herms. About to harvest my fifth run and I cant remember more than 2.
Putting down at least fifty plants, usually about 15 varieties.
Yeah, lotsa doubles and mixes, but we're talking about almost 250 plants, it's putting it under 1% .

It could be said that growing 12 from seed is not the same as flipping an immature plant. I would agree, and I am about to do it.

Being somewhat personally invested, my prediction conforms to my desired result.
That is to say, I am thinking it will turn out just fine.
I could be wrong
we will all be there when it happens

Can I run this play forever?

Nothing lasts forever. You are 2 weeks from harvest, tight.
No go on spinno within 5 weeks harvest, use it as a knockout not more than twice in a cycle.

Dosage
Do all products mix at the same rate regardless of plant maturity?
Essentially yes. Rates can be varied dependant on pest pressure I've settled on what's easy for me and what isn't, I write on the bottle.
Spinno 3ml/gal everything else 1T/gal. You know well enough not to spray with lights at grow intensity and are acutely aware of how dry your enviro is, the more gradual you can make the drying out the better. I wouldn't do spinno on the seedlings, wait til they are several nodes and you confirm you still have a problem.

1T=15ml 1Gal is close enough to 4L
Shouldn't take more than 2L to cover your area, more like 1. I use about 1.3L cause it's a third of a gallon and 1T=3t.

Ok, so now what?
Choice 1 - ride flower and accept the fact untreated, more pests will remain to jump ship to anything living. Hit seedlings 3 days after harvest with spino and begin the fight.
Choice 2 - hit flower and seedlings with 3 way mix of botanigard, grandevo, vinerate or do them in fast succession but your harvest timeline of March 15 is looming. Then roll into spinno, 3 days bg & ge or vinerate, 3 days vinerate or ge, 3 days re-assess pyrethrin is option here move to 7 day rotation bg & ge or v.

Vinerate and botanigard have efficacy in soil grandevo does not. Iirc spinno is use within 12 hrs.

I'll have to re=read in a bit be sure I caught everything.
