So started a little project by taking some lions mane LC and apply it to an agar plate. I will be doing this for a few different edibles, and medicinals as a project.

Here is the plate that was started on 8/6 (Malt Dex Agar). As part of the experiment, I took the leftover liquid culture, and inoculated a 5lb Wood lover substrate bag, It is about 80% colonized, and the little ones cant wait to see it fruit.

Man that is so cool! Most I ever manage is finding a giant Puffball Mushroom too far past its prime, and leaving it by the entry path to the woods out back so I can step on it and spore the crap out of the woods.

And dumping Chicken of the Woods water in logs in the garden. Lol.

I don't know this species very well, is it a tasty one, or medicine?

Sounds good :)

I know some Mushrooms can affect people differently; Shaggy Manes for example, apparently can make you sick if you drink alcohol before eating them.

I usually stick to the 3 or 4 species I can actually identify myself, as I get worried about that "Tod Stuhle" / Toadstool (German for the Seat of Death).

I cut these the other day on my birthday, for egg/potato/banana peppers/tomatoes/omelet sandwiches. All grown here, with fresh baked honey slice loaf bread I baked the day before!
Just looked into my Marthasan set up, and just cut a few more!! We love the LM's!!

Love those also. There's a farm not far from me that grows these, plus a few other varieties. They're so good. Made them for a family gathering and they were a big hit.

That omelette sounds amazing. Nothing better than eating food you grew yourself. Well...getting high off your homegrown stash is pretty sweet too.

So decided to finish this mycology experiment with the 7 and 9 year old. We opened the bag, grabbed the lionsmane on the walls, and the built their first little Martha,..just add a little heating pad underneath.

Their first time with minimal instruction...now we get to watch it together!! Used alot of micropore tape
