Stealth Grow Cabinet c. 1999 - now with modern grow equipment... finally

I remade the bar light holder to fit 2 lights instead of 3 and they now screw right into the plywood... The amount of light that 3 of them were putting off was too much in the little space, now 2 is working well on 30% for seedlings. Also attached the main light with screws to the plywood... Took a light reading of this one as well and at 10% it's perfect for seedlings. I don't see going very high on either of these lights... that should save on electricity costs.

Hi Everyone,
I've done a bit of work since last, sanded the posts all to the same length, spray painted white for the inside and black for the utility room and outside... This photo is of a dry fit of the unit...

IMG_1505.jpg

The seedling chamber as well as the utility chamber will be temp controlled with one of these for each room... hanging down from the bottom of the top plywood... that's why it's upside down...

I'm thinking about putting one of these in the system and having the reservoir on the left of the cabinet on the outside on the stool you can buy on their website... since this is for a smaller grow, I would think 3.9 gallon container is large enough?

Tough call.
Standard practice puts 8 inches between the top of the water table and the top of the root ball, on a passive wick.

4 gallons can potentially grow a giant plant. Even with attentive pruning , the longer internode spacing could get you in trouble.

I have seen a 2 litre turn out a few Ozs.

Thanks for the feedback Jewels, I do agree, the limited space will require a screen and training... the 3.9-gallon pot has about 10 inches of soil. It's an experiment still, but my first cabinet was a lot smaller that this and I was able to grow successfully. I do think that a 60-inch-tall grow space would be really nice. This one is 42 inches.

This cabinet is the smallest proof of concept that I could build, and it will go from there. I do want to make more of these... The grow space dimensions compares to other grow cabinets out there. I guess I'll see how things go once I'm finished building it.

They make a 2 gallon pot which would be ideal size for your space, I think your going to get yourself in trouble with that 3.9 gal, they are tall and narrow so your giving up a bunch of height. Also, once you hit the autowater stage it's going to be explosive growth just like hydro does when they go crazy so best be prepared as the plant will fill that space in a couple days from growth.

I have a set of autopots, been thinking about breaking them out again as they've only been used once. They work as advertised.

Love the idea & thread so far...

Ancient information now, however the best thing I did to my old box, was to remove the floor of my box, as it set up on 2" legs, then I made a false floor, so I could sink a 5 gallon bucket through it, then made 2 pieces to fit and cover around the bucket. I also sunk a larger tote 1701097820048.png
That is my first contraption, after dumpster diving for 3 big shipping crates, for electric motors.
I tore them apart, and hacked it together. I'd run a cycle or 2, and hack into it, to change something or other.
That was almost 23 years ago now.
This pic, was the best grow box I crafted, and I could turn out 2-5 ounces per cycle dependent on strain.

Left side utility side, with a clone rooting area. 150 HPS with a 70 MH, the best balance of HID's I ever worked, year after year. Sunken floor area, with a OH Shit under bed tote to catch leaks or over runs, or a small hydro tote, like I used my OG box, The New Ganja Boy Stealth Grow Box.
Mine also utilized flow through walls, with the squirrel cage blower mounted on the back, as I pulled air into the utility area, behind the foam panel, it would pull air through door vents, wall vents, pulling the doors tight. I used 1/2 hose, I got at a fire sale, local nursery for pennies, and it worked perfectly.
A pic of a cycle that got unruly, a bit off track if you will, AK-47 was on the label.

Just some old pics to show how your 3 d printing is so much nicer, better, so current!!
Anyway, that was my beginning. Then my wife's cancer came back, and I needed much more cannabis material. For buds, I would usually have buds from the previous grow as I was cutting the next one. That makes for a proper sized grow box, IMHO.

Okay, I'll go with the advice offered and get the 2 gallon autopot setup... every inch matters... Thanks for the feedback.

Oh how awesome... thank you for sharing! That is way better than my first cabinet build. Good idea dropping the container through the floor, really nice. Good job building that grow box. Different times then right? Now there's AC Infinity, hahaha
