Nearly forgot. I'm picking up some large 30"x20"x7" storage bins from Ikea tonight and gonna go full on flood/drain in the flower room. It's been taking me nearly half my day to water everything in there. And I gotta do it twice a week. No bueno.

Even if I hand water, it'll be way faster not having to move the plants around. Might even try setting up some automated watering/feeding...

Are you sure they're deep enough? I ran some of these a few years ago before going to buckets. Usually 2 per container.

I’m not setting up an ebb & flow or anything like that. Still gonna run 1gal fabric pots. Just gonna hand water, and perhaps add a drain if necessary. Maybe setup some automated drip lines in the future.

Just food for thought on the automated topic, I recently looked into the 'Blumat' system.
I'm not committed to automating yet, but I believe this is the route I would go when I do...

I liked the fact that the system was expandable, you could start small and the add to it if you liked it.
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,

Yeah something like that. The blumats have that moisture carrot which is nice for automating. Another member a while back suggested these Netbow rings. Definitely an attractive price

I guess u run a pump n not gravity...how long u run them and how many events per day?
I just got up and running today. Each plant got about 2/3 gal. That’s good for 3-4 days, but I’d like to get to the sweet spot where things are staying hydrated and the plants are using every bit of it. Shouldn’t be too hard to get there. So maybe 1/3 gal every day? We’ll see

When I began this project, I thought i’d use gravity, but the reality is there’s no way to drive 18 emitters with a 7 gal bucket with 1’ or 2’ of elevation. I quickly realized, I needed a pump. Got this cast iron pump for around $120. You can definitely get away with the RV pumps around $60-$70.

Probably the biggest headache was dealing with all the necessary adapters. My pump uses 1” pipe thread, my filter there uses 3/4” pipe thread, which goes to 3/4” garden hose threads, and that down to 1/2” poly tubing for the irrigation.

Also one important bit, I bought quick connects/disconnects for the garden hoses. Couldn’t imagine having to screw/unscrew them each watering. Teflon tape on all male threads is also necessary to prevent leaks.

Really nice setup by the way...I been thinking about getting some drip rings. Did u get the manifold pipe from the same place as the rings?
Thanks m8! Yes, I got the rings, emitters, and poly tubing/connectors from

I got the pump, adapters, and quick connects on amazon.
