I have yet to see an outdoor grow I didn't like and yours is no exception, I like your area. Hopefully your plants won't have to take any more ass kickings, they don't look any worse for it. Do you have any idea what the egg sacs you're finding are ? I ask because I was curious if you try to accomodate beneficial bugs.

Looking great! Weird to see you without socks and crocs but that's OK too :)

Socks with crocs blocks rocks :D

Thanks for the kind words.

I do try to accommodate benificials by having healthy soil but am not necessarily a fan of having them crawl around pooping on my plants. Please use responsible insectary if you do purchase them.

Pretty sure the sacs are cricket.

For sure more hail to come, probably some snow too.

Very good point there! It's rare, but sometimes an insect can go in a bud, and generally they get stuck, so it rots the entire bud. Personally I've not had a Ladybug do this, but have you ever seen this before? You got me curious now lol.

I haven't bought any bugs yet, last year I found mantises around my place and moved them to my plants. They took pretty good care of things too, prior to that I had been spraying as needed but it was a pretty good year anyway I had few pests and very little pm or rot. I'll have to check into cricket sacs and what they look like I just saw a cricket/hopper type insect in my grow today. I have a spray I use if things get bad, no mantises yet this year but others like assassin and parasitic wasps I've seen.

Good luck with your plants, I will watch to see how things go for you.

The fungus is pretty crazy this year, this black blob on the tree stump was yellow a couple days ago, went red now black. Guessing it has something to do with the ants but idk.
Could be Chaga mushrooms. If so, they're supposed to be really good for ya, and not cheap in stores.
They're supposed to lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and fight cancers.
They go black outside, but should still be orange inside.

Found some aphid pressure yesterday on the gw x cnc that has been out since May. Used up the last of my botanigard, gonna replace it with bio ceres for a bit to compare.

Top dressed 1-2C Dr. Earth 4-4-4 today, need to hit the indoor this afternoon.

Aphid pressure still on, was away for several days and the weather window is being difficult. Also a little late in the morning to spray but it's a partly cloudy at least so I went for insecticide soap (Dr. Bronners) instead of grabbing an arrow from the knockout quiver. I'll go for pyganic when weather cooperates.

Benefits on Dr. Bronners are I can hand wash the plants without ppe as I am spraying to aid in physical removal. It is basically a phosphate foliar too.

New for me is cover crop, if you remember I made comment a while back about this bed not performing. Hairy Vetch

Looking for this bed to rock next year, will put down some other cover crops as the seasons progress, then chop and green manure it in the spring.

Jenny is lookin a little hungry but with the aphid pressure she's not gettin' anything.

The volunteer is looking male and also experiencing heavier aphid pressure so it may not be long for this world.

I have some Aphids running around outside too, but I saw Ladybugs and an Aphid Lion on some plants, so I'm currently not going to spray, and let them deal with it for now. I have some Green Clean if need be, but I usually save that for later, when the Humidity becomes more of an issue for me.

I've only had to spray a few plants one time thus far, because these little Beetles were being a pain, but after a single dose of that, the numbers were reduced enough that I'm OK with leaving them alone. Specially with beneficial bugs around; I don't want those to die obviously, so, for now, waiting it out.

Do you guys have Aphid Lions showing up at all ?

Not seen any aphid lions here, ever. Couple ladybugs but not on the canna plants. I try to select products and spray in a way that is balanced by what the pressure is. Suckers rank real high on the pest list for me and the pressure was increasing beyond acceptable before the first spray.

I did have this acting preditor like but no positive ID yet.

Took cuts off the outdoor Jenny then chopped her down. She had no chance of finishing and all I really wanted to was to do a version of the outdoor rejuvenates cuts stoner myth. Bit hesitant cause of the aphid pressure but by next week plants should be starting flower.

Next phase of the Florel male reversal project is underway.

Yesterday was probably the last day for pruning.

Cool weather pushing soil temps below 55 so the heat wire will get plugged in soon if things don't turn around soon. Hoping for a late heatwave a slow transition to fall but it's been tough for me to get an accurate read this year.

The in ground bed is showing some "less than optimal" performance and the raised bed is gonna need some work for next year. Wife has picked up bokashi so I may just bury a couple buckets directly into them this fall.
