Your Wish of the Squish!

Just another student of the trichome. Hashishan in training.. Have done the Qwet, and blasting, but figured I would build a place around the different techniques, and principles of rosin pressing. No way am I an expert, and the knowledge I have learned come from trial and error, and a large group of individuals. There is always more to be gained in this area, and the more we test, and share information, the more we can evolve as a community.

Currently I run the dabpress 10 ton driptech 3x5 plates. Usually run 185f/2.5 min, then 1.5 min at 210. Mostly getting over 20% depending on strain. Like everyone always said, fire in, fire out. Also if it doesn't hurt you to squish it, it's not worth it to squish!

A little more info to start out:

Mostly 5 or 10 g pucks, tried a 14 needed Irwin clamps.
1000/1100 PSI at the puck
Dabpress 30mm prepress for 5g
Dabpress 40mm prepress for 10-14g
Have the dabpress 2x4 for hash rosin but not enough to fill it with bubble to press yet.

Here are a couple pics of a GG#4 press. This was about 22% return. 90u bags from pressclub

The best question of all, what's your favorite consistency!

Just started processing some jam, budder/badder was my thing to due ease of use, but switching it up. What are your best practice techs? Experiences?

I don't know shit about pressing except I really want a press :D I've been thinking about building a press out of harbor freight shop press and buying a plate kit

It's definitely addicting once you start squishing. There are a lot of people building their own. On Reddit check out r/ flowerrosin or r/rosin. I had enough saved so I just went with dabpress, quality equipment, and excellent support. I didn't get the mini like I wanted, but ecstatic none the less.

Heres an example of FlowerBomb Kush 210f 2min 120u bag. Not the best yeild over other strains but dang it still came out terpy. Now a days I'm favoring lower temps for the first press, I'm such a flavor chasing bastage.

This was one of my favorites, Reno Genetics Cosmos close to 24% yeild 185f 90u 3 minutes close to 1200psi mini puck blowout. This was one of my favorites, potency and flavor profile are top notch! Pics before and after the cure. Notice there's not a lot left after the cure, tearing it up...the puffco likes to eat well!

I'm a long term lurker of multiple forums, old time grower. My broshak Bodean has been bugging me to join forums Facebook instagram, but I have always liked to stay as insignificant and unknown as possible ;). This is the single forum that anyone will ever see my existence! Just want to contribute and "grow" in my hobby and various extractions.

What I want to know is how peeps are making pure rosin carts? How are they winterizing it, removing fats and lipids without chems?

Yeah, that's on my list to learn. The only way I've done winterization is solvent :( everclear ... Add some everclear, dissolve the rosin, I think ~110-120f, magnetic hot stirrir is the whip. Throw it in the freezer , separate the fats/lipids then through a buchner funnel, evap, vac purge etc. People put that shit in carts, but F that! I dont want to breath that crap. :)

There's a tech for that, it isn't given up easily. But would be cool to figure it out lol

From rosintech.com, add this to the backlog of research items on deck. Hehe

We’ve already explored Jar Tech in depth, but it’s basically a means of curing your rosin which can manipulate its viscosity. If you expose your bottled rosin to too much heat for too lengthy of a time, you’ll end up with pen juice; a clear oil similar in look and thickness to distillate. It’s a running joke that the results of overcooking during the Jar Tech process are best loaded directly into a vape pen. But with rosin carts being introduced to the market, it’s not really much of a joke anymore.

When dabs first started hitting the med scene over 10 years ago, the dominant form of extraction was BHO and the "clean" form was supercritical co2. Is co2 even talked about any more since the advent of rosin pressing?
Co2 is still used, even more popular with laws changing last year on butane. Pho is super popular out here, propane that is.

They probably pull different "fractions." I've used white gas before (aka camp fuel, but NOT Coleman's that stuff is not very clean) and if you washed too long, it would pull out more green.

Agreed. Chlorophyll, the double edge sword, cold n fast is the only way I have ever found to reduce it. I want to do mechanical separation. I accidentally got what was diamond like once.at least that's what I'm calling it..hehe..jarred it up put on the plates after press .forgot the jar on the clone mat for a week, found it .. happy accident afterwards..

"Forgotten" recrystallization. The crystals scrubbing themselves. Nice (y)
