Wooooooow hats off to you man... so inspirational. I had to scrap my last bin but I think I may try againA few days ago I harvested my worm bins, and received 60 gallons of EWC for my effort.

Do you live coastal ?I've got a large compost pile in the corner of my yard which must be moved to my wife's garden. I will do a bit each day and i'll be watching for new 'native worms' as I clean up this pile, probably about 2 cubic yards of non canna compost! I'll run these native worms in separate bins, to add to my wife's greenhouse and garden. This should increase the sucess of the live worms I'll return to native soil.
There's always something new to try!
No, I live as close to the center of the USA as one can be. After all the misery brought by IAN, I feel good that I resisted the urge to live by an ocean. We do have super clean rivers and lakes here, and we are well above sea level.Do you live coastal ?
Nice . 90% of our population live on the coast . Would be nice to have the option but desert isn’t very livable . i have seen those centipede things too...and they are like 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.. not possible to be a gnat or thrip anything...too big for a hypo mite. Can't tell atm
Thanks, we love it. Nice to leave the rat race in the rearview! Coastal exposure has economic strengths, I hope most of y'all are safely above sea level. I have a blender in the garage and any veg scraps - egg shells - go into the blender and then dumped into the worm bins and dirt where my plants are growingI tried worm bins last year but had to abandon them due to several reasons.
What do you feed them?
I've moved on for the time being... doing worm piles now. The past couple years haven't really been conducive to giving something like bins the attention they need. Once I get settled somewhere I'll start some again.I have a blender in the garage and any veg scraps - egg shells - go into the blender and then dumped into the worm bins and dirt where my plants are growing
Oh no!I have fire ants trying to move into one of my bins.
I’m not really interested in using poison, even on the ground around the outside.
Read cornmeal or keeping it real moist?
Apparently they won’t kill the worms, but can eat the eggs, so that’s a problem.
Ants don't eat poop, but worms do. I place a few of the Andro bait stations around my grow for safety. Thanks, I’ll look into the borax.
Not sure DE would work on ants, tough on worms though?
I’m going to try eliminating food sources that might attract them, straight rabbit manure?
Do ants eat poop?
There’s a guy on OG that has a technique for sprouting seeds on a bed of ewc.Yikes, I haven't even touched the last 50 gallons of EWC I harvested . Time to experiment with my excess. I'm full organic so I should have a bit of play. I'll take notes and do some side by sides.
I suggest sprinkling fire ash around the base of your bin . Unless they’re tunnelling in through the bottom this should slow them down .Thanks, I’ll look into the borax.

I’ve seen many organic ipm for ants but every method I tried never worked or ants didn’t even notice the stuff as a defense lol
ants IPM, 99% species including fire and including cockroaches killer/trap
just matters if the ants are really a enemy to u or your garden. They are every year for me outdoors and a major Allie for aphids. I had to figure Out a solution and sprinkling stuff wasn’t working exp for outdoors.
two modes to kill em and keep em gone For the season. I have use this a few seasons and it’s crazy if u put it near an ant hill or neaf where they walk they will be so attracted u def can tell they are fucked even in 24hrs . I remeber laying a few traps and same day going to check out a trap and there was 100’s of them by and Inside the trap holder. than within a week k didn’t see any ants in that region. Bam!

How Advion Ant Bait Gel Works
Advion Ant Bait Gel takes advantage of the natural behavior of ants. Foraging worker ants are attracted to the sweet formula of the bait. After consuming the bait, the foraging ants will return to the nest and share the bait with the rest of the colony, including the queen(s). By ingesting the active ingredient Indoxacarb the ant’s nervous system is disrupted, ultimately ending in death.”
ant trap holder ( reusable , Im sure u could make one but i can say it def worked and than some )
