Best Ph for coco

Mac i think i would have ditched the Mega crop too if i continued use in a reservoir. Works fine in DTW system though. Mac were you able to establish rep status with the Flora-Flex nutes?
Thought about it, still thinking about it. But I kinda like the freedom of not being obligated to tag everything I do #floraflex. And the last time I did something like that I wasn't 100% behind the product and it felt fake lol. I'm too much of a free spirit to be faking shit. Maybe after I run their products and see how they are.

Here's the best that I have. It's Tk/NL5 Haze from
Ak Beanbrains @ week 7.
Im pretty confident she will swell much larger in the next few weeks.

The rest of my budding plants are Blissful Wizard cookie crosses, so they don't quite have it in them to grow large, it seems.
Nice man! And nope I think cookie colas will always be able to hide behind a 2 liter lol. Btw I'm a big supporter AK beanbrains, I like that dude.

It wasn't too bad, sounds like the smoke got a lot worse after I left. Seemed worse towards Anchorage rather than Kenai. I was there Aug 5-13 if I remember right. It was my first trip and made start looking at property up there lol.

It's pretty nice on the Kenai Peninsula.
We had the warmest and driest summer on record.
August is typically like late October in the Seattle area, if you can relate.

Back on topic, I find that reusing coco gets better with each successive crop.
Do any of you reuse your medium?

Everyone was complaining about how warm it was up there....... I've reused coco in the past, anymore I mix it into soil for other plants. Think I will start saving some for growing shrooms too, got into that recently and am enjoying it.

I did that years ago and really want to get back into it.
I have a 22 year old spore print of The Amazonian strain of Psilocybe Cubenses.
Wonder if it's still viable?
I doubt it.

Prolly not, but you can always try. I ate a half gram microdose today that was fresh, not dried. I'm still fairly new to growing these things, but it was an uh oh moment when I remembered @thundercat telling me the fresh ones make you trip harder ? ?. Was a little worried I would be changing my plans for the day there for a bit, but things didn't get too colorful lol.

It would be cool if that print was viable for sure though, you should give it a go

Microdosing is one one of the reasons I'd like to grow them again.
Never tried that though I've done some 12 gram dried "Hero Doses" and my life changed direction the last time I did that.

I was looking into building a laminar flow hood.
I used a glove box in the past and burnt all the hair off my arms a couple of times.
Oh, and I need some Spores.

I've got the rest of the equipment to get started.

I have used bagged coco and bricks. The bags are easy but they take up way more space than having a couple bricks around
Botanicaire is the cheapest and best value for bricks. for the same price as he canna you get 13 gallons of coco (roughly)
I used canna coco last time and just bought 2 more bags of 4 tiny bricks. Beautiful coco, the way they made the bricks is genius and you can break off 1/4th of the package
40 litre packs works out to about 11 US gallons

Fungas Gnats...i think they started for me with Root Farm Hydroponic medium. Going forward i will hydrate my bricks with some mosquito dunks to ensure they dont ever come back.

And i increased the fans...good luck landing on a pot you little bastards.

:D

I got you on some live culture if you don't want to buy spores. I know quite a few dudes that are doing this and swap LC and just kinda keep it going back and forth. LC colonizes a bit faster too. I'm going to build a new incubator and glove pretty quick here.

Sorry @Capt. C I'm derailing your thread buddy. I'm going to start a mushroom or microdosing thread later.

No problem i think most of the info on that subject has been posted anyhow.

Reread your post. That's pretty smart upping circulation at pot level. And I know the pain of not needing a whole brick, I've used hack saws in the past and it's a friggin mess lol.

I used the claw of a hammer to break it up. Mess wasn’t TOO bad but the process is annoying.

Had some fungas gnats and I just sprayed top of coco with 3% peroxide followed by a little water to further dilute it and then sprinkled D.E. on top. Killed the 2-3 mature gnats and I didn’t see them suckers again. Good circulation is key.

There is a very nice Australian site, use to be Manix Botanix, but has changed names to medteknutrients.com.au with comprehensive information on Coco Coir, DTW and more.
Here is a quote from there with the scientific references to help dispel any broscience involved.

"Firstly, let me dispel a common myth and say that coco substrate is a hydroponic medium (largely inert) and is very different from soil. One forum actually went so far as to as to have a thread called “coco and soil growing” –implying that the two very different mediums were almost one and the same thing. Let me put things straight. They aren’t. Coco substrate is coco substrate and soil is soil – the two very different products require two very different treatments/approaches to realise optimum yields. Just one example being that optimum pH in soils lies between pH 6.5 – 6.8, while optimum pH in coco is 5.5 – 5.8. Additionally, an optimised soil nutrient will look very different to a coco coir formulation (we’ll talk more about this shortly).

OK, so let’s put that aside; coco substrate is a hydroponic medium. Soil is soil. That simple!

The next thing that needs to be addressed is that idealised coco nutrient is somewhat different from a standard nutrient due to the organic coco substrate containing often naturally high levels of potassium and (in many cases) sulphates etc. I.e.
