A Gentleman's Rolling Paper Revue

You should definitely try Raws, or really any of the hemp or rice papers on this list. They don't roll as easy as the classic Zig Zag but once you switch you'll be amazed at how much paper you were actually tasting before... Imo anyways.

These all come in 1.0s, I just roll with the 1.25s because I roll a lot of small cones and the 1.0s often don't quite reach haha
Raw only comes in a 1.25 but will still give it a go I guess. I'll just go visit my buddy and smoke one of his lol.
Why does the package say "not for use with tobacco"?
I guess same reason beanzzz are "souvenirs " lol You can only use them in the 11 states with rec and 33 with medical marijuana permissions lol

I was thinking that maybe it's so they can be sold to people under 18/21 but is selling anything smoking related to kids legal?

This is the closest thing I've found for an answer... apparently its to circumvent the FDAs ban on flavored cigarettes. Weird that its on the ROORs, which are not flavored obviously

Very interesting. The state I live in banned all flavored nicotine/cigarettes INCLUDING menthol. My wife smokes menthol cigarettes and now can only get them from stores out of state.

I dont even like cigarettes but I think banning them is stupid... kids don't smoke butts because they taste like double mint, they smoke them because its makes them look cool and their parents tell them not too ... least that's why I did when I was teenager anyways

Honestly man I just find the whole experience of smoking more enjoyable when I force myself to slow down and roll a bone. You get to feel the weed, smell the terps... I always take a dry hit first and get that unique unlit weed taste, unmarred by resin. There's no other method that hits all those marks. A bowl always makes things feel rushed
Dry hit in a J is one of the things i measure in smoke reports. it can be as pleasurable as smoking itself. it also gives me a good idea of what the smoke experience will be all about, it will always be different once combusted, but having the two to compare gives me a more "in depth" feel to the strain if you know what i mean.

Exactly! I started smoking when I was 13, because I thought it was cool, and I smoked whatever I could get my hands on.

So as usual I'm a little behind on this... guess it's the new norm... been too tired after work, guess I'll post while I'm at work lol

The ROORs actually grew on me throughout the week. They roll really well. Of the papers we've tried before they would definitely be the easiest transition from traditional papers. They spin up just like a Zig Zag (minus the cut corners...)

Taste is on par with the Chills... slightly more noticeable than the Iries but not by much...

And these papers just burn perfectly..

And finally, they're a killer value... they were on sale for a $1.00 a pack for 50 sheets when I grabbed them, but even normally they're only $1.50, one of the cheapest papers on the list

Taste: Mild
Burn: Slow
Glue: Strong Hold
Ease of Use: High
Cost: Very Low

TLDR; Inexpensive paper that rolls and smokes quite well.

This week we're smoking on some Cheech and Chongs 20200831_200730.jpg

These papers are made by an independent US based company that licensed the Cheech and Chong image for these papers as well as a bunch of smoking related novelty items. Apparently there are 12 different pack arts available, but both of my packs are the same.

So I'm on trend here... my first two randomly chosen papers looked exactly the same, now my second two look exactly the same...

Early impressions are these papers are very similar to the ROORs, but for some reason pulling them outta the pack keeps putting the little crease you see in the picture... they burn fairly well and roll VERY easily... we'll see how they treat us the rest of the week

The RAW organic papers...i am not a fan at all. I guess organic means thin and tears easily.

I thought trees by their nature are organic are they not ? :D Dont get me started on bud light platinum...6.0 The oxymoron of all time. It was probably the same marketing genius that made these sub par papers.

So take a hard pass on these hipster papers. They can barely take a slathering of rosin...and you need it because the glue rips off with a gentle roll. Brutal. Maybe the glue is the trails of a thousand slugs put on paper...wow i just grossed myself out.

Back to RAW original...STAT.

I just had to say something. I have 4 packs of these stupid things and i have had to double paper everything to repair blowouts and whathaveyou.

I dont think the person that thought this up even smokes weed...pa shaw!

@OldG I'm sorry man, but boy did I get a good chuckle out of that read....

Trees are of course organic in that they contain carbon but not per se "organic" in that the guberment has deemed them at least 80% free of chemical fertilizers or pesticides (in and of itself misleading since chemicals are in fact naturally occurring so perhaps man made chemicals is a better delineation) and of course I can't speak for Canadian trees... or is it Canadien?

The big benefit to the RAWs and their ilk is the slower burn and less paper taste but in reading your comment it dawned on me that there are diminishing returns on those notes when you "slather" rosin on since at that point your joint will also burn slow and you are unlikely to taste any paper anyways! :ROFLMAO:

For us lowly plebes who do not heap concentrate on our jibs I still stand by hemp or rice paper (organic is immaterial)... and honestly you would have been better served with the ROORs or something thicker than the RAWs... but your candid reaction is greatly appreciated either way!

You got me trying out new papers too !. I am in love with the zigzag organic hemp. They fixed the weird texture of the Raws.

Raw does come in a standard paper size. 2 sleeves in the pack. I used to use them but my hands cant roll like that anymore i have to roll them bigger.

The King Size are pretty nice too. I grabbed a couple packs, the weather is getting nicer for a longer dog walker...this one was just under 30 minutes total burn time.

Assorted buds in the tray in a rosin'd paper. It was a true brain hammer. I approve of this message.

So last week we were rolling with the Cheech and Chongs. These papers were fine. Very similar to ROORs but with an annoying habit of bending when you pull them out, and they slip a bit when rolling. Really not much to say on this one. They're $2.00 a pack, so average price. Made in Spain. Uninspiring.

Taste: Mild
Burn: Slow
Glue: Strong Hold
Ease of Use: Medium
Cost: Medium

TLDR; Nothing special unless you really like seeing the famous comedy duo on the packs.

This week I've been rolling with the Pay Pay 1 1/4" all hemp papers. These papers are apparently the oldest rolling paper brand in the world! They were traded by Spanish sailors centuries ago and are rumored to be the first documented paper in North America!
20200908_170021.jpg

They have a magnet on the cover and say Pay Pay ON THE PAPER.

They have pizazz! And so far... they've actually been a really nice smoke. Slow and steady, no paper taste, super easy to roll with, especially considering how thin they are. I'm digging this paper.
