It's amazing how quickly we can swing from high to low. A month ago I was completely burnt out and uninspired by the garden. Just one headache after another. Life outside the garden wasn't helping either. But things seem to be turning around... or I just ran out of fucks to give. But either way, today it feels like...

So it's new journal time!

The 12/12 expirement is off and running. I'll get to that in more detail shortly. There's also some great news on the hunt for more Blackened Oranges! One of the Useful cohort over at RIU had offered to send me the rest of his pack earlier in the week which was great. And now today I got a message from Useful... when he was cleaning out his seed fridge he found a bag of Blackened Oranges seconds! Theyre all the paler beans he picked out and didn't sell, but we'll roll those dice in Corpsey's garden any day! He offered to send them my way next week. I'm ecstatic to get another opportunity to hunt through those.

Beyond that, I'm seeing actual callus form on the HS33 clones so I think a few of them may actually root!

So we're feeling pretty good right now. I'm sure something catastrophic will happen shortly...

In celebration of new beginnings (or something along those lines) I'm gonna do a little giveaway! The HS33 S1s seem plenty healthy but there aren't many of them. I've promised a few packs to folks already in reciprocation for their generosity, but I won't be able to send too many out until I make more. In the meantime, here's an opportunity to grab some for anyone who's interested! I also have a few duplicate Useful packs from a recent auction purchase I made that I'll be adding in there. The Useful packs are sealed but only have 6 Fem beans per pack instead of his usual 10 due to their method of being acquired.

The prize for my little contest here will be as follows:
1 - 10 pack of Hippy Slayer 33 S1s from moi
1 - 6 pack of Chem 4 x Bag of Oranges
1 - 6 pack of Chem D x Banana OG

Instead of the usual random number game I'm going to hit y'all with a little trivia question...

The name of this thread is a groan inducingly bad play on words to make any dad proud, based off one of my favorite books. To win this little prize, be the first to answer these questions:

1. Who is the author of said book?
2. During his life he was far better known for his illustrative contributions to the reprints of a pair of far more famous novels (both originally written in the late 1800s). Name either one of them!

Let's see who's Google skills are on point. And if you already know the answers.... get a life nerd!!

Now, let's get to back to the whole growing weed thing...

I fired up the 3x3 today with 15 seedlings. I wanted to start with 24 in the hopes of ending up with 16 females total, but my germ rates sucked on a few things, so I just dropped 8 more beans that will join these if they pop...

Right now the list is:
4 x FVK F2s (me)
2 x HS33 S1s (me)
2 x Sim City Juice x Swazi Burmese (me)
3 x Blue Blood x Super Skunk (AK Bean Brains)
1 x Josh D OG (Josh D Seeds)
1 x Tillies Favorite Flavors (East Coast Cultivars)
1 x Gelato 45 x Hooligans (Savage Genetics)

All freebies or my own chucks so if it doesn't work out the way I want it's no big deal.

I mean, that's also a definite possibility. He did actually grow up in a village in China. He had a pretty crazy life. And a lot of nervous breakdowns.
I was going off pre-internet rumours, but according to a quick bit of research, we may all be wrong.

It wasn’t until the early 1960’s, during the counterculture movements, that people began circulating theories of Dodgson taking drugs while writing the books. (Most likely opium or laudanum, which were common during the Victorian era.) People cited events in the book, like drinking potions, eating mushrooms, and the hookah-smoking caterpillar to be direct references to drug use. However, most scholars would disagree with these popular beliefs. In all of the journals he wrote throughout his life, Dodgson never mentioned the use of drugs and there has never been any other evidence that has come to light connecting Alice in Wonderland and drugs.

Kind of cool to learn the origin of the Cheshire Cat as well.

EDIT: Or did I mix up the author with the illustrator? D'oh!
