Chopped the only surviving UK Cheese x Black Russian from Hazeman and can't say I'm super thrilled with it. Not that it doesn't smell great, it does... but there's not even a hint of cheesiness. It's very sweet smelling. And the leaf to calyx ratio wasn't ideal. Hopefully it will be some good smoke anyways, but just not what I wanted from this cross 20211001_225336.jpg

Well, they look a little rough straight out of the cloner but I may have finally found a method that works for me. Rockwool plugs with just aloe and pH adjusted water in a tray with a raised plug holder under a 7“ dome, single T12 flourescent bulb. 3/6 are rooted and the other three look like they might throw roots still as well. Hippy Slayer lives on..... if enough of the cuttings survive I'm going to flower one with the Bahlki. See if that pairing can reign in the HS gangliness... 20211003_202455.jpg

The Hippy Slayer mom will hopefully be getting flipped soon once these are looking healthy, I'm going to try and pollinate a few branches on her with the reversed pollen and try for more S1s.

So as usual there's no reprieve from my constant battle with temps. As it's cooling off Im already struggling to keep the temps high enough, even though it feels like a few weeks ago I was trying to cool things down. I got like 10 days of perfect ambient temps lol.

I'd like to avoid running the space heater as much as possible this year so I think I'm going to stagger the lighting schedule on the two flower tents so at least one of them is always throwing heat. Im also going to rearrange the lights again. It's a pain in the ass doing this every season but until I can afford a minisplit and more efficient heater I think it's my only option...

So for the winter it's going to be 2x 315 CMH in the 4x4, 2x Spider Farmer SF2000 in the 2x4 (probably dimmed slightly), the 280w DIY QB in the 32"x32" and the Cali Lightworks 400w COB will stay in the 3'x3'. Open to other suggestions though if anyone has any. I'm never entirely satisfied with which lights go where, but that could just be my innate desire to mess with everything lol

I really wish grow tents came in more size configurations. I could really use a 3x4x5 but any tent with that footprint is both too tall and usually one of those silly propagation tents, which I don't want to pay double for a shelf I'd never use. If I was a smarter man I'd invent a modular tent system where you stacked tiers together with adjustable poles so you could make your tent whatever height you needed... us folks growing in century old basements need some better solutions!

Been looking for a portable flower vape pen, decided to give the GPen Dash a try and lo and behold... there was a Dr Greenthumb edition (hence my recent contribution to the music thread). Decided to treat myself. Only took two days to get here! I'll try and post a review once I've used it for a few weeks 20211007_202342.jpg

I got the tents staggered as well for heat . The biggest thing for me w temps was closing off the grow area in basement. Once I put a wall up my temps were super easy to control. So even if I had to heat it would be much easier. Not sure if that possible w ur setup but thought I’d share . Also Vivo makes a 3x5 and it’s awesome.

I do have the grow area walled off. There's actually two separate rooms down there, one with the chucking tents and one with the stash tents to keep the pollen as isolated as possible. It's not really that it's hard to control so much as I don't like paying for the electricity to control it properly lol.

I just just found the Vivosun, they have it listed as 2.7'x5' so it wasn't coming up. But unfortunately it's too tall. Where I want to put it is underneath a bunch of steam pipes so I have very limited space.

Not sure if you have windows but I use black poly plastic over mine and it seems to insulate well. Maybe buying some lights that run hot like cobs for instance would help.

The problem in my house is the foundation itself. The whole thing needs to be re-mortered. I've been patching it but it's a giant pain in the ass. Parts are completely inaccessible due to the utilities placement, soapstone sink, and existing walls. Honestly I'll never buy a house with a fieldstone foundation again, charm can go to hell...

Last year I had both tents with lights running at night and it was fine but the dark hours got really chilly. This year I'm gonna try this alternating light plan, and I'm just gonna run all the hottest lights I have. I think it will work out, it's just annoying having to swap lights out seasonally

Lol yeah those old New England basements suck ass. Great opportunity to raise property value updating em most likely though
