Gormengrass Vol. 1 - Titus Grown

It's amazing how quickly we can swing from high to low. A month ago I was completely burnt out and uninspired by the garden. Just one headache after another. Life outside the garden wasn't helping either. But things seem to be turning around... or I just ran out of fucks to give. But either way, today it feels like...

So it's new journal time!

The 12/12 expirement is off and running. I'll get to that in more detail shortly. There's also some great news on the hunt for more Blackened Oranges! One of the Useful cohort over at RIU had offered to send me the rest of his pack earlier in the week which was great. And now today I got a message from Useful... when he was cleaning out his seed fridge he found a bag of Blackened Oranges seconds! Theyre all the paler beans he picked out and didn't sell, but we'll roll those dice in Corpsey's garden any day! He offered to send them my way next week. I'm ecstatic to get another opportunity to hunt through those.

Beyond that, I'm seeing actual callus form on the HS33 clones so I think a few of them may actually root!

So we're feeling pretty good right now. I'm sure something catastrophic will happen shortly...

So this is a Tiki Madman Fudgecle that I threw out in my backyard thinking the aphids killed it. Then it turned kinda spry again so I threw it in a pot of used dirt that used to have some basil in it... and then periodically forgot about. Haven't watered her, haven't fed her. Nothing. And she actually kind of did alright lol. It's been pretty cool here at night and she's far from finished so I'm skeptical she'll finish in time. But she has a good nose and looks pretty nice so at least I know it's worth running the rest of the pack eventually. 20210930_171208.jpg 20210930_171144.jpg

Can you guess where the sun spends most of its time?

Added 6 more plants to the 12/12 from seed tent...

1x Jersey Girl (East coast cultivars)
1x Hash Lover (Freedom of Seeds)
1x Kandy Kush (DNA Genetics)
1x Godberry (Freedom of Seeds)
1x Banana Candy Kush (Riserva Primavera)
1 x Lemon Candy (710 Genetics)

All of these except Jersey Girl are one off fem freebies from Seedsman. Wanted to get some guaranteed girls in there.

I ran 9 total seeds from East Coast Cultivars and 2 germed. Other than my FVK which I knew had issues and some 10 yr old freebies I tried to crack, everything else germinated so.... that's not ideal. Even they were labeled testers. And I can't find them online anywhere now so I don't even know what they are! Not even from the site that sent them as freebies. Nice work East Coast Cultivars!

Man it’s so good to see you back in the garden! Sometimes you gotta take a step back to realize what truly brings you happiness and joy. Glad your back! :punkrocker:
Thanks brother!

I never left the garden completely lol. I couldn't resist keeping a few things going despite the bugs. But I definitely took a step back, and it definitely helped to clear my head. It feels good to be popping beans again, and to have clear goals and plans.

Here's one of the girls that survived the bugs. Reverend Chung from @Keif Lint came down today. She threw some nice solid spears and was a great yielder considering the short veg time and small container I ran her in. I could see this strain throwing some huge colas given more time to develop. Kind of an old school hashy pine nose. Looking forward to the smoke test!

Here's a shot of one of the two Chem Kesey x Monkey Balls I kept from @stanknugzz77. I had to flip them early as well and they had almost no stretch, so they both stayed pretty small, but theyre still stacking some really nice nugs for their size. And these gals stank! Like vanilla, diesel and dirt. They're getting close as well 20210930_214026.jpg

I feel like I might say it too often, but mmmm we like the stank haha. Seriously, vanilla, diesel and dirt sound mouthwatering. The vanilla throws me off a little bit, but it most likely comes from the Monkey Balls (Deep Chunk) side of things. I can't say that I smelled any vanilla in any of the males or females that I ran of the Monkey Balls, but there were definitely a lot of smells with each one that I couldn't really put a finger on and it was made even more difficult by their smells continued evolution throughout growing/curing. I hope they finish up nicely for you! I appreciate you giving my work a spot in your garden! Positive vibes...

Yeah, I actually struggled with how to describe it to be honest. Like you said, the smells are very complex and always changing. Its like vanilla extract esque, not overly sweet and with kind of an alcohol undertone. I could probably as easily called it whiskey-like to be honest. It's going to be one of those "just try it bub, I can't explain it" things I think lol.

Appreciate you sharing your work with me brother, and I'm excited these guys survived the pests because I think they're going to be some killer and unique smoke.
