Carnivorous plants have to come inside soon, the drosera is flowering and a big flytrap ate a whole ass spider

woah dude! thats awesome! what do you do to keep the flytrap alive? does it need frequently moist soil? high humidity? I never seem to be able to keep them around more than a couple weeks.

Yeah they like to be humid. I've grown them a few times, and they're a pretty sweet plant to watch.

You can put it in a deep pot full of peat topped with sphagnum and then put that into a dish of RO, rain, or distilled water. The planter mine is in is a SIP filled with perlite and sphagnum, my drosera and pitcher plant are in peat/perlite but the same planter. But yeah, just a tray full of pots of peat topped with sphagnum and water from the bottom, always fill it up and make sure it stays full. Some carnivorous plants don’t like that much moisture in the soil but if you add more perlite in their mix it they seem to like that.

You got it, never let it run dry and only use RO, rainwater or distilled. They’re super fun to watch, my sundew saves us from lots of black flies.
