Next generation would be your closest bet. I love ISS would love to try and find a nice pheno.

From icmag
Spice of Life Seeds Sweet Skunk was released in 1995, a hybrid of the Sweet Pink Grapefruit and a '95 Sensi Seeds Big Skunk male. It has undergone a few generations and the only plant still growing from the original F1 is the one out of five hundred extremely Sweet Sativa that appears in all Grapefruit hybrids. It is fantastic, although not representative of the strain as a whole." from breeder steve gleamed from the archives of cannabisworld.
There are other postings which speak of breeder steve giving the next generation/federation seed folks the sweet skunk cone and them according to steve knocking off the sweet skunk clone and calling it island sweet skunk.
cheese was'nt inbread, well no more than what sensi had done to it. Thought cheese was a special selection from an 89 skunk#1

was next generation the original breeder ,,?

Not necessarily.

British Columbia is somewhat the 'Cradle of Life' for weed strains.
It has the only suitable climate in Canada for outdoor growing. Back in the day, lots of strains would disappear into the backwoods. Underground growers supplying the black market. That is how uncle Rom ended up finding the OG Romulan in Nelson. They found something that would survive in their area, and they improved ,by selection, the stuff that would finish.
That is how we ended up with stuff like 'Island' skunk and 'Lilleott' black.

Hash was imported from the east coast and made its way west. Bud was localized to BC climate and distributed to the east.
Same story in the states, I would guess. California became the Bread Basket for weed because it was a lot easier to bust indoor folks in Kansas.
So basically, if you lived in Saskatchewan , or the Dakotas during the '80s and 90s, you were screwed.

Federation split down to Next generation. These really early Pioneers with the presence of mind started holding legendary strains that were already cemented in their locales. Not much in the original Next Generation catalog is requiring more than 60 days.
BCGA and Vancouver Island seed company, come to mind.

Also I make stuff up, why not?
I find that story time is a nice diversion, on occasion.🐇
