Not sure if we have any other mushroom hunters in the forums. I'm interested in the identification and finding of mushies. I live on 10 acres of woods and having multiple ravines I have lots of diffrent micro climates. I will post pics on what I have found. Last spring I believe I found pan subs but this was before I knew about spore printing. Later that summer I found pan foes due to brown print and straight lines on stipe. But in the picture I have of the assumed sub pan they seem to have a twisted stipe. Also found a cool boletus that bruises blue at the slightest touch.

Pan sub? Wish I got print. Not is a super common area for them but fit the bill.

The ones that are in this last picture, are
Called moral mushrooms and they are very sought after by chefs etc . You can eat them just like a normal store bout mushrooms . You can sell them usually 10-20 @ lbs sometimes more . In this picture is both kinds the little greys and the yellows . The grays stay smaller then the yellows but both are edible with and food . The other mushrooms if you post a picture they will tell you exactly what they are . But you can also do a print of the cap and send it in to them and they will tell you if it edible or poison or Psilocybian. Always try to leave the root when pulling them morale mushrooms so you can get them every year .

We have Blonde and Black Morels here in Michigan, and we have Giant Puffballs, and Chicken of the Woods, or Hen of the Forest (I forget which one it is) but the Wife and I go out back in the woods and find Mushrooms all the time. We do also get Shaggy Manes, right in the yard, which is where we find a lot of our Morels. I spore my boots before we go on walks to spread them around :)

Morels are awesome with Butter and Garlic, and I had a decent haul this year, but the pictures are in another thread on here somewhere LOL. Personally I'm only able to identify a few species that I can go with where I'm not worried; Wife knows how to tell False Morels from the real thing and she cuts them in half to check the cap to make sure they're right because the other one isn't good for you.

Probably why the German's have a word "Tod Stuhle" or "The seat of Death" and we have Toadstool to mean Mushrooms.

Wife and I went for a hike in the woods yesterday, and I snapped a few pictures of some of the Mushrooms:

The little orange ones pop up and are kind of pretty but no idea what they are. We do have Puffballs, and Giant Puffballs and Turkey Tails, and some Coral ones too.

One thing I would really like to understand and get good at is foraging...and not for boomers. I was buying my boomers by the QP...so that last one might be a lifetime supply. :D. And if you think the market dropped out of weed...WOW...boomers went so cheap its CRAZY.

QPs of exotics are around 250 bucks.

But for edibles...I saw these people in Quebec had a bumper year for GIANT puffballs and apparantly those things are really tasty mushrooms.

The one lady had a 7 pounder and it took her about 8 days to eat it....the last day it was fried with garlic and breadcrumbs.

Foraging without dying sounds like fun.
