This looks amazing. I'll probably skip the overnight brine the first time I make it as I'll no doubt be jonesing for fried chicken and won't be willing to wait a day?

It is difficult to find good Southern fried chicken in sunny so cal. I've been searching for years and working on my recipe which still isn't where I want it. Can't wait to try this. Thank You for posting?
Can't skip the brine, that's what MAKES the chicken so moist and juicy and flavorful. Simply a part of the process of making badass fried chicken. Do you skip veg and go straight to flower?

Based on all the posts, I think there is a clear winner so I’m closing the poll and calling it. Thanks everyone for a fun poll! Yes there are so many different chicken options but I had to choose some of the more well known ones. Home cooking and hole in the wall can typically beat these chains but it wasn’t that type of poll otherwise the candidate list woulda been 17 miles long lol.
So when you posted this survey did you expect it to be one of the most active threads on the site lol??

KFC has not been good here in a very long time

Popeyes kicks their ass. We also have this other one called Chicken Kitchen and they get some seriously big chickens...spicy in the seasoing and a great price.

Churches was really good when it was here. I think it was the best around... And nothing beats the soul food place I ate at in Georgia, in some back wood diner where an old grandma was flipping it in cast iron skillets..WOW

Fried chicken is last meal good.

Sometimes I try to skip veg? but that's really not a good comparison as I can make good fried chicken taking it from the fridge to pan but I can't light up a seedling and feel anything?

As someone who cooks a lot I understand the process but even you must understand craving something and not willing to wait a whole nother day, or am I the only one?

Yeah i know, it was a decent comparison at best, lol.

And @ the others, I'd still consider soaking it in buttermlik and resting in the fridge a form of brining. If the liquid is on there any longer than just to dredge, than its a brine in my book (not like, a traditonal brine, but more of a flavor/moisture soak.
