LED observations

So I’m no rocket scientist…….yet and being only relatively new to the indoor gig I’m still learning but I’ve noticed when I run my LEDs %100 from seedling stage through veg they pretty much hit a mag deficiency around the 3-4 week stage just growing without mag supplement while if I run the same grow from seed at 30% slowly building week by week output they fair much better . Seems there’s a link between heavy LED lighting and veg development through the early stages ??‍♂️. 600W approx , 5x5 tent

Appreciate the feedback fellas . I’m slowly working out tolerances between the plants the lights and the temps . My last run I only vegged at 30-40 % output with no Calmag added and they were fine . This current run at 100% and no Calmag , nope big mistake from me . Lesson learnt . I think just take it as written . Mag every water ?

That's about when I start seeing calmag deficiencies in our 4x4. The lights have no dimmers so always 100%.

Veg+bloom dirty line, calimagic, silica blast and I use Humboldt secret flower stacker in mid to late flower when I cut out the base nutes. Recharge also. Promix all purpose myco active soil. We need to start investing in our roots and really step up our IPM. Also, I think we'll incorporate some foliar feeding next round. Can't keep doing the same thing expecting different results. The veg+bloom is decent but I'm ready to move on to something different once I use up what I have left. Their Shine bloom food is rock solid though.

you been using promix for a minute? I'm pretty new to it, and LED, and seem to be having all kinds of issues, biggest one was I was treating it like soil before I realized it is not a soil, lol.

That's the biggest issue I have lol. I always tend to hold off on feedings early on when I know it only gives enough food for maybe 2-3 weeks. We've been using some sort of promix since 2012 in all of our grows. We always plan on using something better but when it comes time to get soil money is always low and we go with the $13 bale. I've never had huge flowers using it which is why I want to change. I know we can grow good flower, now we want huge good flowers lol.

That's actually pretty funny, the Shine is the one part I don't like lol. I use the Veg+Bloom lines with Stax but I use M.O.A.B for a bloom PK additive in bloom. I am adding some silica next round

I sprout my beans in solo's under T5's, on day 2 they get fed full line of nutes (whichever I happen to be using this round) full strength.
At week 2 they go under led.
And then the plants get fed every other watering until 10 days from chop.
Full strength, cal mag included.
A Si boost at weeks 1 before flip, once at week 2 and 4 of flower.
I've done this under hid and led, lots of wattage per sq ft.
I grow in a 18 cu ft bag thay requires16 gallons of water every day after 6th week of veg.
I do not usually see any deficiency's.
I run the led's at 90% as low as 15" at flower/harvest.
Only big thing I see with the led is at first ya really need distance, and usually will lose most fans at change over but they recover quickly and take off.

sounds like a solid plan!

I had major cal-mag issues when I first switched to LED's a few years ago before the cal-mag/LED issue was as widely known. Roots Elemental + Gypsum + bone meal + lobster compost fixed rhe difficiency, and I don't have to worry since I have several sources providing it. Foliar application of bottled Cal Mag works great as well right after transplanting.

Guys the cal mag issue your speaking of isn't just from the leds its actually your leaf Temps, what your seeing as a defiency is actually just the plants metabolism going slow, try bumping your room Temps up to the mid 80s to get everything rocking again, its from the lack of ir in most leds, causing our rooms to be within hps temp range but not transferring the heat onto the leaves via the IR so the plant is actually seeing cooler conditions under a much brighter light, since bumbing up to around 82 to 85 daytime Temps they've been looking great with no extra effort in the feed regimen just jacks 321 and recharge

I'm gonna have to agree with ya Gweedo!
I've got got way "too many" watts over my canopy, leaf temps run 78* at the top, room temp 83* and lights out temp 69* to 72* and I rarely see any deficiency's.
Again, my steady variables are large container and excess light concentration. Full spectrum, multi panel configuration with uv, far red and ir.
