@Mim Towls - Ohhh not good! Hopefully you have better luck on your own PCing. As far as pans go, they like pretty much the same environment as cubes. They do better with a thin casing fme. I go with plain verm usually. They are a dung lover though I have fruited without. They'll do much better with it.
I'll dig up a link or two to some spectacular pan grows that describe the environment, wet/ dry cycle a little more in depth.
Any specific questions feel free to throw it out there. Seems more than a few here have some experience with pans.
Good luck!

Has anyone ever seen cubes do this? I am pretty sure that these were the Koh Samui Super Strain. They received cooler fruiting temps around 68-70 degrees, and were pretty dense and intense.

Good deal. There is a Bulk Substrate thread, its a steam sterilization method as you stated (I just used this method), 1 brick coco + 8cups verm + 1 boiling gal distilled water..throw it all in a bucket, put the lid on...mix after 40 min let pasteurize for 4 hours..use asap..

Look into making jars, i started making my own:

Where did you get those injection ports, @Deebs? seriously need to find somewhere to get some composted horse manure. like, a few 50 gal trash bags worth. Only thing I hate about living in the city, back in the desert shit was easy to come by.

I think this batch was from shroom supply. The heavy duty injection ports. Per recommendations I filled the bottom of the port with rtv, and rtv between the syringe filter and lid. Those are primarily for LC, but will be running some WBS grain.

I’ll check it out. I was just going to do straight coco without any verm or gypsum. Thoughts?
I’d love to do my own jars but my wife isn’t that cool lol. I’m honestly surprised she doesn’t give me more shit for the girls in the basement. Plus it’s $6/jar which is worth it to me for just dipping my toes in
