Time for a Sombrero update. Big thanks to @Brokehoe for the promting! ?

The bags were kept in the fridge as they each firmed up. Went ahead and threw them in shoeboxes tonight.

Used Coco/vermiculite, pasteurized at 180F in an old lasagna pan covered in foil.

Used two UB's per shoebox. Was on the fence in regards to messing w/ a liner, but these boxes had all kinds of ridges molded in them, and I'm hoping maybe liner might help. Bought the cheapest trash bags the 99¢ store had, and they were the worst, but went ahead anyway....

Got everything mixed, covered with a casing layer, and trimmed the liner. Sprayed the casing pretty good with water, and sealed them up.

Lastly - threw them in my ferments box that's set to 80F. Will probably rotate them every 12hrs, so that they're both getting bottom heat. Still nervous, but kind of hopeful this is going to work!!

Badass yours looks great and looks like you did it the right way.
I went the total lazy route. No liner, bucket tek style pasteurization. Coco only.
Good luck man

Was afraid to lift the lid off to look, thinking fruiting might kick off. And those damned liners had my sideview blocked. Add a little anxiety about seeing a disaster once opened, and I really found myself needing prompting. Definitely had quite a bit of condensation drop from inside the lids when removing. Canned both of them a bit, and placed in a bright room at 71F.

This is my first attempt, and nothing smelled 'off', but I really don't know where things are at. Time will tell soon....

Finally seeing some fruits.

Snapped this pic while heading out the door to work this morning.

Haven't harvested anything, as I was expecting something larger, and for the caps to become more Sombrero-like ...

May have waited a tad too long, as a couple of the early arrivers might be looking played out. Also, I'm not sure if there's just an abundance of mycelium floating around, or something else?

Low key tempted to clear everything off when I get home, spray some peroxide, and hope for a 2nd flush.

Any advice/input is always appreciated.

The big ones on the bottom tray are ready. Mushrooms mainly grow during the dark period. It’s wild how fast they can change

Shoot for harvest right before the veils tear loose, and I'm sure with a full harvest, scissors preferably and a good soak you should get another flush no problem, and awesome work sir I'm 3 days into waiting on my first uncle bens bags to show some life, did 4 bags for 2 6qt bins started with the ole penis envy, awaiting my first mycelium is epicly slow going ??? not gonna look till day 7 lol
