OG Kush!

That's not the worst idea though; I figure if I ever need a few grand for bag seed I could just say "Oh this ? That's OG Runtz Pink Cookies Kush" and watch the money pile up LOL. Not really but it's still a funny thought :)

ok im calling berner! @bitchmode lol

but seriously, that is becoming normal practice. i see so many releases that look like chinese knock offs on ebay... fuck. digging out my picket sign.

Lol I've thought about that before as just a joke, but in reality I don't think I could do that. Besides I've got no interest in Runtz lol.

its a shame i can't think of some good examples, but they are easy to spot. the ones that snag your eye, thinking your favorite genetic is inside. then you find out its purple mids with a similar named genetic involved. i'm also done donating my spare time to scammers of any kind on any level.

I kind of feel like a bunch of strains were given names with "OG" and or "Kush" to the title, simply so they would sell fast LOL. That's why my joke strain name just added all the hype words together. As much as I joke about that, my main interest would be finding a combination of strains that would be called a descriptive "Rotting Carcass Cheese" LOL. Or maybe Durian Cheese LOL.

my names are usually too over the top. i was considering a couple cracks at the current "food" name strategy soon. i can't remember many varieties back in the day being named after... anything edible. just blueberry, tang tang maybe. a few others. just a classier time.

I thought about using one of those strains with Pickle Terps, and the Sin City Juice that tastes like Fried Chicken to do a Chicken Sandwich one, and I still think that's doable LOL.

I do have a Chocolate Cheese that smells like a super Minty Andes Bar, which is interesting LOL :)

here's one. and this is not meant to be a knock on the seedbank hosting these... things. but obviously... this is not ghost og. blegh.
Ghost-Og2-768x947.png

also ethos... and that guy. again not trying to instigate, but he loves to name things whatever he feels. even when they are so obviously not.

his "headband", diesels, and others are polys, and sometimes polys of all females. can't remember how he fems, or femmed... but its with ga3 from what i recall.. and not traditional. or stable to my mind.

I've had Ethos Cookies once. It smelled and tasted like a Chocolate Chip Cookie, and the effects were so shitty I ended up grinding that weed all up and tossing it in with a mix of other weed just so it wasn't wasted. I also mean no disrespect, but my experience personally has been sub par at best.

❄️🔥💎 FORAGER of FIRE 💎🔥❄️
since we have a chemdog thread and no apparent og kush.... why not. i'm posting the assumed 2 stories of the origins of OG below, but please use this thread for any and all OG Kush related material. I'll dig around my pics and post what i've run, and what i know to be verified pics of OG. all about history in general, so this is pure fun for me.

i'm not an og expert, just a psychotic fiend for it. i've ran primarily just two cuts that have any "purity" to them.. and smoked most every og i could find. still do.

soooo. if i'm just plain wrong about anything, please let me know. we can hash it out right here and clear up some of our collective confusion. i've done my best to stay relevant and factual as possible.

1ST STORY (origins_tk)

"Triangle Kush and OG Kush , both seeds made in south Florida in 1991 in the same garage of Marty. The mother was called Emerald Triangle (in our circle from around ‘87) and that garage was stuffed wall to wall with it , A pack of Hindu Kush seeds that I bought from Neville , Amsterdam in 1989 was being tested after a pre sex test . One of those pre sexed Hindu Kush seeds created a bit of unseen pollen near the AC intake , that managed to make seeds thru out that entire 12 light garage . Those lbs where then sold by myself to a close buddy near Orlando , where he would then piece them out to his circle of friends . One of his buddies would find the Triangle Kush seed and another guy found the Kush seed that would later get named OG Kush once it made its way west to California . I’ve seen countless people claiming or insisting Chemdog is the parent to OG kush but with out a shadow of a doubt it’s not unless they share dna from years earlier or maybe from the Hindu Kush genetics from Neville in ‘89 . The Emerald Triangle strain was given to my old partner from an older head from the Washington area before I ever even knew he was a grower as I was buying pounds of it already to sell in 87-88 . OG is not Chemdog simple facts . Added fact , The Emerald Triangle leaned more towards a earthy spicy , flower smelling , sweet candy like terps and not chemi or fuel like at all . fuel or gassy terps must have came from the Hindu ."

copy and pasted from seedfinder, but thats the story from origins_tk. personally not believing this outright. mainly just see holes... and opportunities to capitalize on the confusion. late. it makes... too much sense for being clear as mud. but moving along.

2ND STORY (?)

on the adam dunn show this dave mann/dave richards character shared his... info. in a series of og origins podcasts where the hosts called and discussed OG with some of the growers involved. josh D and bubba berger, orgnkid, and several others were called in (their story is farther down the line, but was verified on-air).

S1E43 The TRUE History of OG Kush - The Adam Dunn Show

3 acres of underground bunkers and a hashplant backcross breeding program for the modern day 20% thc indica... maybe it's just me being an east coaster, but i've watched meth-amped SWAT teams raid houses over 1 gram of cannabis. 3 acres of underground stank in arizona... would expect everyone involved to either flip or stay in prison.

he (since this guy has two names... "he") claims OGK to be of hashplant thai afghan origin, more specifically a bx3 of hashplant thai afghan that rodelized (selfed). to me i agree with that lineage more, at least in theory. some of his other claims... are harder to believe.

MEH?

i've always known OG to be golf ball nug producing, moderate yielding, long internode spacing, and semi stretchy to very stretchy depending. swollen calyxs, pungent smell, and high calyx to leaf ratio.

the fire cut i had would outgrow everything untrained, and turn into spaghetti madness. in contrast, the hells and the ghost both grow sturdier, and shorter. sfv much like the fire, but i've yet to finish an sfv run. lost the cut before i had it rooted:snoop:

tahoe and hells both always seemed very closely related, at least in end result (flower), but not in growth patterns or structure. can smell taste and feel the similarity very obviously, despite the claims of hells being crossed to blackberry.

thats about all i can say definitively on OGK traits without just guessing. haven't ran them all and never had the opportunity to sit down and sample them all.

as far as the origin stories, like most of our lore, a lot of it doesn't add up. i've just collected the data and posted it here. if i was to side with any part of this, i believe orgnkid josh d and bubba berger 100%. at least that part of the background is verifiable, and i was on that forum at that time where these cuts were sent out by orgnkid. was a lot like the gsc feeding frenzy, except it wasn't bottlenecked trash. oops.:slapping:

personally would love to see what info the pheno community has to share. i know at least one of our more prolific members here has "the" potential cut... and no i'm not telling.

What do we know about the clone-only OG Kush?

Story #1:

OG Kush (the original cut) came from an S1 from in a bag of '91 Chemdawg in the Lake Tahoe area in 1996.

Story #2: (by Kailua kid from sierra seeds:)
In late '93 John from Grass Valley Ca. got the Chem Dog cut. He shared it with me, Jerry(cowboy) from Dibble Creek Ca. and Harold(Putz) from Sunset Beach Ca. Putz had a male he called the secret ingredient. It was a cross of Lemon Thai and an Old World Paki Kush. Putz bred the secret ingredient to the Chem Dog. The buds that came out of this cross were going around So. L.A. county in '95. Someone told Putz that Kush must be so good because it was mountain grown. Putz laughed and told him "this Kush is Ocean Grown Kush bro". The tag stuck and it became known as OG Kush. In the spring of '96 Putz married a girl from New Zealand. Before moving there he sent cuts of his OG to me and Bob(beans) in Salinas Ca. He gave all his P1 stock and all the remaining seed he had to Mike(mad dog) from Downey Ca. In late '96 Mike sold some seed to some guys in the Valley. That's where the San Fernando Valley cut of OG comes from. It's like the Original only more sat in pheno type. Mike sold a cut of the original to a guy in Orange county and that cut is called Larry today. It's still around Orange county. Mike sent one other cut of the original OG to a breeder in Europe. As far as I know he never let anyone else have it.
Jerry bred his Chem Dog cut to a Humboldt county indica boy. This was the beginning of his cubing proccess. At BX3 he got a pheno that had all the smell, taste and kick of the Chem Dog, but in a pure indica pheno. Jerry gave this plant to Bob. It became known as the West Coast Dog.
Bob bred this plant to my Old World Kush male. He took a male from that cross and bred it to the OG cut Putz had sent him. This is what made the original Bubba.

Lineage: ChemDawg x [Lemon Thai x Old World Paki Kush]

A timeline of the OG Kush family (on a side note)

(Leafly)

  • Pre-1996: OG Kush’s mother plant is bred in Florida along with a strain called Bubba. Many people point to the Triangle Kush as the closest to that originally. High Times editor
  • Danny Danko later theorizes Chemdog as the parent of both OG Kush and Sour Diesel.
  • 1996: Matt Berger tells Josh Del Rosso the weed in Florida is better than the weed in Los Angeles. Del Rosso challenges him to return with some cuttings. He did. All but one of the OG Kush cuttings die. That cutting is the original, clone-only OG Kush plant that rocks Southern California. Matt and Josh cross another Florida import—’Bubba’—to the OG Kush to make “Bubba Kush” or what is now called Pre-98 Bubba Kush (aka “Kush Bubba,” or “KB.”)
  • 1997: Following Josh D distributing the cut to a close circle of friends, B-Real eventually gets his hands on it from Wonderbrett founder Brett Feldman. That year, Josh D personally brought OG Kush to the Bay Area.
  • 2001: Before the first large-scale indoor facilities coming online, demand for OG Kush in Los Angeles drives the price of OG Kush up to the highest ever confirmed prices of $8,000 per pound.
  • 2004: OG Kush arrives in the Emerald Triangle. Variants are developed to acclimatize the strain for various climates. The most famous of the pack at the time was Mandelbrot’s OG Kush.
  • 2006: DNA Genetics breeds what’s called Kosher Kush today. It will eventually become the first OG introduced to the European market in seed form, according to those that were a part of the Dutch cannabis scene at the time.
  • 2008: Swerve from Cali Connection released the San Fernando Valley (SFV) cut in seed form. Cali Connection then released Larry OG and Tahoe OG not long after. Also in 2008, now-California Treasurer Fiona Ma valued the Humboldt outdoor crop at $8 billion. Some believe more than half that amount was OG.
  • 2010: Kosher Kush wins Best Seed Company Indica at the Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. Various local Master Kush variants had placed over the years, but this was the first true OG win. Kosher Kush wins Best Indica again in 2012, and again in 2015.
  • 2015: Rapper Wiz Khalifa debuts a premium OG Kush type, Khalifa Kush. Jet Fuel OG comes out the same year.
  • 2019: Fire Cut’s Fire OG wins Leafly’s Best OG Kush of California contest, besting Marathon OG from The Cure Co., Diablo OG from IC Collective, and three others.

good grab! but so much conflicting info lol... most of this has been striked thru on seed finder, and i've never trusted leafly on genetic lineages. matt and josh are on air stating bubba was an accident, and by 2019 most any OG info had gone to poop in general. mandelbrot's og kush certainly isn't famous around here, and if it was anything like his headband (which was really sour diesel? but it wasn't?)... it wasn't (just) og kush.

crippy, the crip, kryptonite, ogers.... my god. at some point this proposed preservation will happen, and then we can start fresh in a way. the phenohunter OG!

Any FaceOff OG fans? That's another known OG Kush cut/pheno, is it not?

I've run the Doc's OG clone from @DemonTrich, it's Face Off x RAD#1 from rare dankness. Face off is from ThaDocta at archive seedbank, supposed to be bagseed from OG kush. not sure i've gotten a face melt effect from the Doc's but it was very strong, kinda leaned towards the RAD side a little taste wise. could definitely notice the triangle influence from RAD#1 male

after smoking on chemdog, the second batch from the same head, for over 3 months now, I have come to some potential conclusions. Especially after reading through CSI's IG page, and specifically his posts about the triangle phenos he has been finding. I also have been discussing this with a mod and fellow OG head here in the DMs, and taking all this into account, finally getting a grip on... something.

this batch of chem is the same clone as the first run i suspect. havent been able to confirm, but i dont imagine its a different cut. but thats not based on the flower.

this run, this chem, is nearly identical to SFV. which i have plenty of recent and past experience with. a different look but the same identical smoke nearly. the first batch was clearly less fuelly SFV gas and more garlic skunk.

nspecta's triangle kush S1s have been pushing out OG phenos, and i have no doubts about his eyeball. especially after seeing the IG pics themselves, very obviously has found a Ghost pheno, along with several others.

adding in a piece from the DMs, this puzzle makes much more sense now. Chem 91 S1's will potentially put out TK phenos. TK S1s will definitely put out OG phenos. and so on.

The White... which is supposed to be a TK bagseed... no real verdict. but interesting how White Fire puts out beautiful OG phenos. the 43 i've had is not the same as Raskal's 3 or 5 in terms of structure.

The Fire i have experience with, the Swerve cut, had a bud structure similar to triangle, where as the WiFi has much better calyx to leaf ratio, just like Hells or Ghost.

leaving my beloved HA and Tahoe... somewhere. and the Fire that sent my trimmer to the psych ward... still not sure. but getting somewhere.:stoned:
