Pressing kief

I always save my trim and collect kief. When pressing your kief, what micron and temp is best?

I suppose I'd like to know for either. I usually have so much trim that for myself I like full melt but I have quite a few friends n fam that are on the "family plan" and might settle for free quantity lol

If you just want pressed kief, I used a 160iu bag, collected everything, then ran thru a 120iu and finally a 45iu bag. You can always use this trick I've learned.

5gal bucket
45 bag
120 bag
160 bag

Toss all material in, add use and cold ass water. Agitate for 5mins, pull each bag out 1 at a time and drain into next bag. Repeat until done.
Dry and have fun.

Shoot I should've clarified, I'm not talking about bubble hash, I'm talking about throwing kief in a rosin press. Thanks for the info though! I love me some bubble hash it just takes longer to make than collecting some kief to press.

I do 169 on the temp and use 37 micron for my trim bin sift rosin.

If you have enough, do a practice run with like a gram and adjust from there

Double bagging is a good idea. I've blown out so many rosin bags, it'll make you cry. I used to do 37 and 45 micron at 210F. Under that temp you'll get slightly more terps but smaller yield. Go slow when applying pressure it's not like pressing flower.

Awesome tips! I appreciate it all. I blew out a bag yesterday on a golf ball size ball of kief which is why I asked. I think I have 165 bags but would have to double check. Im not too picky in all honesty. I only press it because I keep my trim in the freezer and when I take it out and shake it there's too much moisture to leave it just laying out. Im gonna double bag it and take it a little slower next time.

Rosin press, not pollen press.

I did 120*, slowly ramping up the pressure. 2 mins max. Release, repeat.

that micron you have is more for pressing bud. you might get plant matter if you put kief in that micron, even if you double bag it. Might be better off just waiting to get some 37's, wouldn't want you to waste it or dab something that's not clean.

I think it was over at the "farm" where I had a big thread about rosin pressing. Youll have to go there, as that place can suck my nuts. Iirc, I use 73iu for flower and 25iu for kief.

I remembered that I used 37u for the inner bag and 25u for the outer bag. Always got it from The Press Club.

I'm pretty sure that the low temp press guys are all about turning that into bubble hash first, and then pressing the bubble has to get a super pure final product. I know its more steps, but if youre interested in the best of the best, thats the way to go.

Yeah I think you're right. I'll have piles of trim after this outdoor season so probably a good idea to do a massive bubble run. There's worse problems to have than making ounces of beautiful bubble hash 😁

yeah I think it will be a bit of a process to get your final product, but damn, will that final product be worth it!

I've had the best luck with micron bags around 25-45 microns for that perfect purity level, and keeping the temperature at about 150-175°F (65-80°C) seems to do the trick for a solid yield without losing too much in the way of flavor. It's definitely a bit of experimenting to figure out exactly what works best for your specific kief. Btw, I recently stumbled across some rare  link removed. These can really help make the whole process a lot smoother and more efficient, especially if you're doing it often.
