A bit of background for those of you that don't know me. I'm somewhat new to the scene. My Girlfriend (GF) and I are a grow team and have had several successful (and not so successful) grows, starting almost 2 years ago with Soil & Coco, then moving over to Hydro ( UC RDWC and F&D [both DIY] ). We still utilize Soil and Coco for side projects and propagation purposes. We started this journey in this wonderful craft with two objectives in mind: growing our own stuff to get away from the vicious cycle of overpriced dispensary mids, and to create a specific cross we had in mind which has proven challenging to find. Within the past year of joining forum discussions, I have met many great folks (online & in person) and my learning curve has been essentially cut in half. With the sharing of our experiences, both good & bad, along with the plethora of advice, generosity, and all around good karma going full circle...here we are.

One of the main things I learned is that there are millions upon millions of strains/crosses/etc. but there are special phenotypes within these genotypes which have very desirable characteristics such as Potency, Smell, Taste, Yield (among others) - the commonly heard phrase "Checks all the Boxes" - these plants are the Cream of the Crop, and are often times more rare to find and preserve than one might think given the sheer amount of cross pollination occurring in today's Cannabis Genetics game. "Elite Fire x Elite Fire" does NOT always equal "Elite Fire" - some of this is dependent upon your personal tastes and what you're looking for. The gene pool is so diluted that just about anything can happen, good or bad. So as we continue on with the next chapter of this journey, I invite all of you to join in the discussion, proliferation, and celebration of the most amazing plant known on Earth.

Starting off here with just a few things going on, there is much more behind the scenes, but with all the things that I've been juggling - work, family, grow, and now this new Forum Site of ours (<- this includes YOU! ) I will be posting updates as I can. The main focus now (besides what I mentioned previously) is developing and maintaining this site so we can all have an engaging, fun, insightful, and safe environment for everyone to enjoy our craft together. If you haven't already noticed, I have been posting improvements and enhancements to the site in the thread Site News. It's on the menu bar on the top of your browser Desktop or the Side Bar on Mobile devices.

She's a weirdo. The fan leaves have been drooping like this since the beginning. She gets the same feed as all of her F&D Tote-mates, which all looked "normal."



We're gonna need to watch this one as it's drying so we can get it in the jar sooner before later to preserve the Mango-Myrcene-Stank goodness.

We've got 'several' jars of Schwaggy's strains curing. These are the only pics of "live" plants that we have right now for his strains. Definitely more in the future. MUCH MORE. The oldskool funk stank is BACK - thank you @Schwaggy P for sharing your badass, carefully worked genetics with the world!

I'll add a double post here. Lol

In reference to checks all the boxes for me I'm looking for these things in the buds.

-The high of course, my tolerance is obscene so it takes a good potent one. Lol. Different highs, for different times and or activities.

-Flavor. Has just such a great taste I'll keep smoking just cuz it's mmmmm delicious.

-Smell, I like the strong ones. Funkier the better.
The ones that you just keep going back for a sniff of. Lol
Those are really all that concerns me as far as buds checking off the boxes go. ???

-Smell and Flavor though differ so much from one person to the next that one smokers box checker may not be mine/yours. Lol.

Other considerations for a box checker.
-Weight? I could really care less unless I'm running low somehow. (Highly doubtful)
I do love a fat pretty set of buds though.

-Ease of growing the plant? It'd be nice if they all grew easy, but my favorites have usually been bitches to grow. Lmfao. So Im on the fence there.

I really just love growing them all looking for that next box checker.

My favorite pheno out of the four I've ran

A bit of mag deficiency on the leaves but she totally champed it. A few stressors here n there, and she still produced. She's in reveg now along with SCJ4 and a couple of others


Galactic Funk #1 - GK Genetics - @Phylex - 2 Week Cure (courtesy of @Phylex - awesome job on the grow, thank you for sharing your specimens for us to evaluate! I know I haven't been keeping up with the smoke reports. That's about to change )


Ahh. Yes. Galactic Funk. Unreleased to the general public, still under evaluation. This and a plethora of new strains being created and tested by GK Genetics (@Phylex). DON'T MISS OUT on all the absolutely goregous pics, exciting new crosses, and super clean projects going on at West Coast Chronicles, home to the Grow Journal of all things GK Genetics. If this tells you anything - my harvests coming up in the next several weeks (semi-perpetual) consist of 100% GK Genetics strains, from Testers to Official Drop Releases. Something else coming up soon - some of you who have followed my journal in the past will know of the sizeable (for me at least) pHenohunt that I'm running on two selected GK Strains. Coming soon

Smoke Reports? There's a new section for that. I'll be putting one up soon here: Smoke Reports. I used to post Smoke Reports on my thread or the breeder's thread. By having a Smoke Report section, there will be a collection of reports that can be more easily referenced. Feel free to post yours there and provide links within your journals so people know where to go when they just GOTTA know how that bombass bud they see in your journal smokes!

pHenohunt - in action

God O War (GOW) & Ground Pounder (GP)
- 12x GOW in RDWC Tote, using 6" Net Pots and Hydroton
- 6 Females (hopefully) to be selected for the bulk of the 12/12 cycle in a separate 6 site UC RDWC
- 16x GOW in F&D Tote*, using 1/2 gal Square Pots and Hydroton
- 16x GP in F&D Tote*, using 1/2 gal Square Pots and Hydroton

Some observations -
- Right hand side of pic - 2 totes are GP. Middle & Left - GOW
- The RDWC Tote plants (the black ones with the round netpots) are bigger and heartier than the F&D Tote plants
- The RDWC Tote with the chipped off paint was an old one that I had painted after I lightly sanded it. I used a spray paint meant for plastic, but it didn't stay on very well. I resprayed it before this run and the part where the plants are is holding up ok. The RDWC tote on the top of the pic was prepped differently:



I scratched it with my thumbnail a few times in different places and it stayed painted.
