What causes herms?

I believe if it’s going to herm it’s going to herm (Breeder error). I’d bet less than 2% of the herms out there could be prevented (Grower error). There are many different phenos from the same cross and chances are low they will all herm but personally I’d still stay away from using a strain if it’s sisters hermed (the trait is in there to some degree in my opinion).

And a couple balls on lowers is completely unacceptable in my view. That’s a herm. You can’t be just a little bisexual, that makes you bisexual..

No you’re correct and I’m not. Sorry for that. R1 is reversal on diff plants, S1 is reversal on same plant. Not sure what I was ? apologies.

Don't sweat it, I was thinking have a got it wrong? Have I been reading things the wrong way or interpreting them wrong. Main thing is we got there.
As for the other part bh touched on. I have seen hermies in outdoor plants 3 times in 20 odd years and they were the biggest out of the pack grown. Calyx, little white hair, getting excited, then balls and ripping out quick while quietly sooking. 2/3 were reveg. The other one was seed start all through cycle. Indoors never seen as indoors I'm new. Could unstable genetics be the cause. Lots of f1 f2 Hermy? How many ibl? I'd love to know the ratio on that

I’m gonna call the old “ I’m no expert or just my opinion “ disclaimer but these light leakage claims causing Hermie issues don’t add up to me and in saying this I’ve had plants in my backyard where an outdoor floodlight has virtually overlooked them where it’s been turned on and off all night as wife’s out hanging laundry , daughters gone out for a smoke or whatever and I had another couple where a street light gave passive light and never had hermie issues and yes this has been over a few seasons with varying strains so surely if a particular strain was prone to light stress I may have noticed it . Seems more things tick the breeder box than the grower . In closing refer to opening disclaimer statement ??‍♂️
