Recently I started looking into a foliar spray recipe that incorporates products that I already own. I've been watching videos on Youtube and reading guides online on what other people are using in their mix. I have used Optic Foliar's Overgrow in the past with success, but I'm trying to keep the costs down and see if I can mix up my own.
I'm only two weeks into using this recipe so I'm not sure if it is something I'll change or continue with, but for the purpose of documenting my grow I'll share it in case it becomes a staple in the garden. I'm also sharing because other growers may have input on the formula, for better or for worse.
Since I won't be foliar spraying daily it wouldn't make much sense to mix up gallons of this stuff. I decided to use a 1/4 gallon (32 oz ) mason jar and a magnetic stirrer to do all the work. My plants just started flowering so I'll only be doing the foliar application one more time before it's time to cut that out.
I initially considered using Silica in this mix, but after watching some videos of the guys at Jacks talking about Silica, and reading up on how Silica and Calmag don't get along, I decided to omit it from my recipe. The base of this recipe is Calmag, so the last thing I want is for something to interfere with that.
I start with clean, RO water. 32 oz.
Add a surfactant. I add a couple drops of Coco-Wet. This makes the water more 'wet'.
Use a pipette and EC pen and begin adding drops of Cal-Mag until the EC reaches .4 (200 PPM on the .5 scale)
Measure out and add .2 grams of Fulvic Acid - Link to the fulvic acid ----> Link
Measure out and add 1.25ML (1/8 teaspoon) of Recharge.
Use another pipette to add 2-3 drops of Orca.
Check PH and adjust to 5.8-6.0. The EC should read between .4-.5. (200-250 PPM on the .5 scale)
Add to spray bottle. Spray plants 1-2 hours before lights on. Turn off all fans prior to spraying. Make sure the get the bottom and top of the leaves.
Foliar spraying will raise the RH in the grow room so adjust the exhaust fan accordingly. (If you have any temp/RH controller probes cover with a plastic baggie)
After the lights turn on manually turn the fans back on.
