After excluding the Bruce Campbell tune, it came down to a photo finish between two entries.
"Fell On Black Days" may be the most impressive song that came out of the Seattle music explosion, rivaled only by their own 'Outshined" and a couple of Alice in Chains songs. Wrapping a catchy melody and chorus over an odd time signature, and lyrics baring the life long mental depression of one of the best vocalists in rock, it's worthy of a win, made even more poignant knowing that Chris Cornell ultimately succumbed to his struggles.
Mike Patton. Does anything else need to be said? OK.
Faith No More, Mr Bungle, General Patton and the Executioners, Dillinger Escape Plan, Lovage, Mondo Cane, Peeping Tom. And definitely Tomahawk. Patton and Chris Cornell both in my contest - BIG PROPS !
I listened to both a couple more times, and concluded that the instrumental break in 'Black Days' is a 'wait it out' moment...kind of an annoying break that I'm happy to get past. Thus, a very worthy number 2 finish for @Stanknugzz 77.
The winner is
