So here is the method I intend to use for the substrate of bulk tubs for the Martha...

Wanted to get your guys opinions. Will mix 2 1lb rye-berry spawn colonized bags per tub.
Wondered what mixes, and sterilization methods you may have found to work best.

Been using a roaster oven rather than a pressure cooker too. Here's a quote from the email where they taught me this. It's a real nice sub, rich and healthy stuff.

"The substrate recipe we use is 500g of EWC, 500g of coco, 1 quart of vermiculite and 200g of gypsum. It gets weighed into a 5 gallon bucket and 2 quarts of boiling water get added. Let this sit for 20-30 minutes for the coco to bloom and then add 2 more quarts of boiling water and mix thoroughly with a drill mixer. We divide it into tuckey bags and pasturize it at 160 degrees for 1.5 hours. When its done it goes in a cooler to slowly cool down over night, and then the next day we make totes with it."

I've been watching these Crowdcast videos. Paul Stamets, McKenna, all kinds of really smart people that are dedicated to changing people's lives through psychedelics and whatnot lol. They just did a series in tribute to Terrance McKenna. Lots of good content, most of it's free some you have to buy a ticket to help support them. You might have to create an account to view content.

I prefer oven bags for pasteurization. Mix whatever your fav recipe is, pre moisten to field capacity or just a bit more to account for evap in oven, place in oven bag. Place candy or meat thermometer in top of bag and into center of substrate, twist tie around the bag allowing some gap for steam to escape.
Place in deep pan in oven allowing for expansion, or fill pot, slow cooker, or pressure cooker with some water and cook on stove until internal temp of substrate is 165F for minimum 1hr. Let cool and you have perfectly hydrated and ready to use pasteurized substrate.

I used to fill a pillowcase, place in a cooler, pour boiling water in, and more boiling water. It works, but you have to then squeeze out the excess water by hand or let it hang and drain.

Achieving the right moisture content before cooking is much easier.

That's a nice trick, I like the pillow case thing. I imagine that makes it a lot easier to hit your desired moisture content. I think I'll be giving this a go.

LOL. But nah. Been there, done that. It'd just end up like the weed has ended up....lots of effort to just give it away...if you can find anyone to take it...LOL.

I'll watch vicariously through all of you. The only hallucinogen I have any interest in trying is DMT...and I'm not sure I could handle it/need to tempt fate @ this point in time. Shit is already weird enough these days without making everything melt/breathe/toss tracers.... heehee.

fairies wear boots.......I saw it I saw it with my own 2 eyes...

I've been looking into a handful of psychedelics for their healing powers lately. Pretty cool things happening with a bit of different substances these days.
