90 +/- days seed pop to harvest. Some 60-70 dayers. Fun to grow.
I've never smoked an auto I liked and had some nice looking spears I couldn't give away. That was 10 years ago - are they better?

Yes - congratulations @BobBitchen and @Amos Otis !
I love seeing Phenohunter success.

Looking at the top strains - I know that AO isn't an auto fan, but as a mercenary, it may be time for the Briscomatic...

LOL ! You think after years of building and crafting a reputable brand, that I'd trash it by cashing in on the auto craze?

[ Do you think I could get away with it? Maybe find some ruderalis to hit Pussy Galore - the name seems obvious, doesn't it?]

Ya but how do ya cross em and all that auto breeding thing? Reckon the unknown freaks me out a lil ?
Naw. They're fun. The first ones I got were an accidental cross reg Dragon x Magnum auto. I was told some auto some reg. Well 90% auto my first generation with a female regular and 90% of the auto seeds were auto producing 1 male reg. It's a 90 dayer and I've had a few that the flowers wouldn't/didn't mature. Weird but the autos are pretty kick ass. Worth playing with but you don't have to breed.

I'll make myself a deal..I'll do a auto if it's a briscomatic.. untill then I prefer regs?
Autos can be regs! Most of the early ones were just fems because it was a quicker way to lock in the auto genes and it leans into the aforementioned idea that autos are easier.

Just for clarity, I enjoy the occasional auto run and certainly think they have their place in cannabis cultivation, but they are 100% not easier to grow. Newbies often seem to think the "auto" stands for "autopilot"

Ive not considered autos yet at all..I'm not against giving one a spin...My round of set up tho .just not sure how that would work

It wasn't an auto category.

They were the best selling strains.

Chernobyl Slymer was #1, the other best sellers just happened to be autos. Go figure. ..
I think all the auto hoopla is their small size. Many people growing in tents or even cabinets need small plants, hence the little auto.

The Magnum I got is a Haze strain and is really nice. I've crossed it with GDP and very happy with the results so last run I back crossed it with parental strains, both sides. Attempting to produce an auto GDP/Haze. Everyone needs goals?

And Amos, YES they are much better then a decade ago. I ran a couple Frim was working and they were very nice. Are they as good as some of the best regs? Probably not but worth growing and working to make better?

So I dont want to completely derail the DC Seed Exchange thread here but this is one of the assumptions about autos that I find problematic. Those early lowryder crosses stayed small for sure, but these days a lot of autos can get massive. I grew an Auto Kaya 47 from Advance Seeds that yielded a quarter pound and took over half my tent! Same with the stupud NL Auto I had from seedsman that annoyingly started flowering at like 80 days.

Autos these days require a lot of research to make sure your matching the strain to your environment and goal... far more than with photos imo. Because if my goal is tp squeeze in two outdoor harvests a year then yeah, a massive, quick flowering AK47 knock off is awesome! If your trying to do a one tent perpetual grow in a small space, not so much! Both are scenarios where autos are beneficial, but you need to choose the right autos! And if your not in a scenario like that, the added control photos give you will almost always make your life easier. I can control how long a photo veg's and intentionally keep it small, cant do that with an auto.
