Gweedo's Growroom

Got all my trimming jarring and curing apparatuses figured out as well, total numbers were disappointing to say the least but he'll it was firsts for everything, the lights the f&d setups and both strains were new to me, ended up with 18 Oz's out of 9 plants in 1 gals, I guess that's decent??? But it was under 1100watts of LEDs so Im thinking it could have been way higher had I not defoliated all through the first weeks of flower, but what I did get is top notch fire for sure, I ll get to taking some nug shots sometime here soon, curing in Masons and a 5 gal bucket with a gamma lid and a few large bovedas in there as well, everything is divided up in paper sandwich bags, holding 55% rh so it seems to be working decent 20200323_124500.jpg

Quality ? of the smoke is my main concern rather than yield. Gimme a # of dank over 10#'s of boof any day of the week. Lol.
Half a gram per watt or so by the rough math.
I'd say that's pretty good, not the best, but not bad at all. Def room for improvement and dial the new setups in.
I know I've had worse than that for sure. Lol.
Love the bucket gamma cure. I do a similar type deal but without the bags, and I leave em on branch. I'll have to get some of those hygrometers though, good idea.
May have to give the bag deal a shot too, but I'm kinda a lazy trimmer. Lmfao.

It has been a few years sense i have used any of the Bovedas. That method looks like it might help with any absorbing issues from the Bovedas. My taste buds are not good enough to tell if they affect the taste. I just found i do not need them. I always start a little on the moist side on the cure and work my way down to where i need to be witch eliminates any need for them. @Gweedo's Growroom if you start a little to dry how do they work moving the product in the other direction toward moisture?

They actually work really well at re hydrating nugs, I had some cherry pie I left open for a few days, it softened it right up
I still have some of them and will keep that in mind if i get something to dry. (y) Any thoughts on taste from them? When @spyralout says he might taste them i would believe him. He has one of the best taste and smell senses i have ever seen. Like i said earlier i can't tell myself but i have read from plenty that said they could taste them and with that being said probably just as many saying just the opposite that they could not taste anything.

These last few harvests I haven't used them and some plants got overdry, nothing to save them. Lower humidity environment year round. Boveda mighta been able to do it to some extent, but I've always gotten some sorta weird taste to them, like the terp is still there but with a (stale?) twist. I would like to try it when they are at a good moist stage, say 65% or so, then toss in the jar with the boveda with a hygrometer and see it drift downward. Let the boveda pull the moisture out instead of vice versa.

That paper bag trick might help with this, although I can see it would also depend on the boveda packs, if they're new or rehydrated via paper towel, etc.

Thinking of this - what if the boveda packs were infused with terps as well ?

There is a company local to me working in that direction . Hydration packs with flavors infused. I still have some of it to try but was not a smashing success on my first try. I can not think of the company name at the moment but i will look around for the pack.

I think I remember you talking about it, Flavor the Flower or something like that. What if it was a "Boveda Quality" pack. Or a DIY.

Certainly an interesting concept on the adding of terps from the moisture packs to infuse the dryer product. Good memory also i think that was the exact name of that company. I am guessing 20 or 30 years from now you will be able to add whatever flavor or terpene you like to Ganja that tests between 50-90% thc. Wishful thinkingo_O

I agree with the Boveda changing the flavor, I don’t know if it is my imagination or what but I stopped using it for flower that I plan to smoke. I do still use them to rehydrate for rosin use. The Integras don't seem to affect the flavor as much but hard to tell sometimes.

I am a fan of paper bag cures during periods of low humidity which always seem to occur during harvest time. When we get down to single digit humidity the paper bag has saved the day. I buy 100 packs of grocery bags on Amazon.

We'll time to get back at it with an update of what's goin on in the room, been a while so I'll just do progression pics of each, have 2 dbb x lvtk crosses, and 4 obsm x lvtk crosses both from Mr eso vegging in the flower space under one of my LEDs (560watts) set pretty high.

In the veg tent I've got 6 g funks from GK Genetics aka phylex , ended up with 5 males out of 11 surviving plants, they got culled last week and are vegging nicely on the veg shelf, 120watts on the level the plants are on.

Last harvest has been curing now for about 6 weeks ish and both the skunky VA and the DBBs have gotten a+ reviews from the few people I've shared a little with, so again shout-out to Mr Schwaggy and Mr eso for putting out straight fire ??????
