HPS rocking an air cooled hood ejecting outside....what heat problems. I have a 1000 with 2 new ushio bulbs put away...my problem is the clearance height and i only have 5 feet 8 of it...so man does it stress a plant out.

But i like 500hp....things that go fast....Ricky Bobby WAS RIGHT.

HPS is the no catalytic converter large block chevy. They sure work.

those cobs are beauties too...i use them all but HPS makes the buds down low hard as rocks...and not a lot of lighting can do that...Inverse Square lighting starting at 150k lux has something to do with it. And even better i love on a cold winter day just getting some of that warm yellow HID sun.

Glad to see a bunch of beauty sounding fems coming down the pipe !.

2 Citrus Milf just hit bloom. And they are vegged up nice with no bug damage...i see citrus creme bats in my future.

I'm currently growing testers of everything now so probably gonna be late Aug before they hit the seed banks. It took a minute to get this all started because I'm in the process of overhauling my tents with new fans/filters and converting all the lighting back to oldskool HPS/MH.
I did some of my best stuff with hps/ my & a switchable ballast not fond of dimmers though vegging with my & finishing with hps has a quality too it

I have noticed it these past couple of runs a bit. Even with a shit ton of “real LED” the buds are not as thick. However I can’t run HPS due to my heat situations even in the winter. Frost factor, I’d give some good LED’s the edge but nuggetry factor the HPS has that penetration to make some nice lowers. I do love the results that CMH push out though. Just something about that 3100k Philips that produces super nice buds.

You are in Red country so Mopar or no car ?

Controversial alert: in all my street racing days I’ve never seen a 440 get taken out by a 454, 427, 428, EVER. Including mine. 426 Hemi? Fuggeddabout it. No bottles, pump gas n go. Ok well some occasional 108 from the 76/Sunoco shop just for fun :)

Don’t get me wrong I love all brands. Just something about them Mopars w the slightly longer connecting rod. But whyTF didn’t they do 4 bolt mains? Ahh well they still spun up like a MF and sounded awesome w a set of Flowmasters.

I love all brands (Pontiac man) and I love any American iron. I got a 500 Cadillac in my 97c2500. I'm a gearhead and have owned many. my favorite driver was my 68 New Yorker 440, that was a sleeper for sure. I guess I'm partial to GM b/c my dad was Chevy all the way 396,402,427,454 with a th350 and 12 bolt hard to beat in my town not including hemis lol

Sorry I'm done

Pleaze dont make me get going on the 383, the lil big block that could.
They didn't need 4 bolt mains, they had a built in girdle.

I originally did led because of the heat issues I was facing in another grow spot. Im in a different spot indoors now and dont have those issues anymore. I just cant beat the results of "vintage" lighting with my style of growing in hydro. iplugged in my MH and my plants LOVED it. I forgot how good an old HPS was for flowering and getting them to sex earlier than led.

Exactly why you said! We share the same opinion.
No kidding? How cum?

I just unpacked and hung 2 small Mars LEDs to replace 4 CFLs in a 2 x 4. Twice the brightness at half the wattage, so I'm strongly considering replacing one of several mh/hps lights to see if a total makeover should be done. I know I'm still operating in 2011, but you replace a bulb for $20 once a year and these babies last forever. I'm one of those ' I hate to replace something that still works just fine' guys, and own it. What am I going to do with 10 perfectly good clamp lights and CFL bulbs ?

No shortage of spread on that I'm sure. I played around with some 4' agromax bulbs (UV a/b) on each side of my 1K's for a minute. That combo produced some killer results but the extra heat (and additional 300W tacked on from the 4 footers) was too much for my A/C unit back then tho.

I never could see how to integrate led's, strip or panels, with hid.
The different height requirments and shadowing of fixtures.
It just seems to be a daunting task.
