Question Male/Female ratios

I have to ask...is anyone else having crazy #s of males in their seed starts? I pulled 5 females from 38 seeds across several strains. Is it just my bad luck?

That sucks... I'm just about to finish up my first run of Reno genetics & out of 28 I got 18 females.

I had a pack of exotic give me 5 or 6 males out of the 8 I popped.

Luck of the draw.

I have started hundreds of seeds this year and around 75% of them have been male. I just had 6/13 females with some Bodhi gear that I popped and that is about the best ratio of females that I have had all year. A ton of the Chem Keseys that I grew are males. I always feel like it is luck of the draw. I appreciate a good stud as much as a good mother, so I don't usually worry about it too much. 5/38 is definitely a pretty low ratio of females though. Hopefully the ladies turn out beautiful for you! Positive vibes...

Page 20 haha. Out of all of the books that I have purchased over the years about growing/breeding cannabis, this one has been the most reliable information by far. So many of them have bro science or just parts that are bullshit in them and that makes me discredit the entire book. I even have one from the 60s. That one is pretty funny at parts. Positive vibes...

EXCESSIVE heat to regular seeds, trying to germinate them, will cause males for sure. Try to keep temps below 85 and humidity super high 70+%. Also the rounder seeds, less pointed, are usually female plants. Not a guarantee.

But avoid excessive heat using regular seeds to germinate! You will get mostly males.

I am having a hard time with this. I saw a pretty well known seed breeder cite that very same book when a customer was complaining about all males in a pack... He used the book to place the blame back onto the client... I dont understand, if sex is determined within the xx or xy chromosome, wouldnt that already be determined in the genetic code of the seed? I really dont know enough about genetics to argue confidently either way, but seems to go against what I have been taught... Can anyone try and help clear this up for my tiny bird brain?

I read this in a growers book 40 yrs ago. I grew 4 Greenpoint regs three yrs ago, all were fems.

Can you wrap your mind around another fact?

Benzothiadiazole, gibberellic acid, silver thiosulphate, silver nitrate, and colloidal silver can be used to alter genetics also.

I post facts , Im not the guy that bullshits others or takes and alters photography for fucking points on a forum.

Hows that? You pissed me off.

The gay emoticons reveal your intellect I guess.

:D

I answered a question you could not. That's ALSO a fact.
