Upper peninsula here. Been a yooper most of my life.
Oh sweet bro! I've never been up there before (not many Catfish) but there's Wolves up there and I'd love to see those!

One of the members here was looking for a strain not long ago that is from up there (Garden Green or Green Garden? One's a strain and one's a cannabis company so finding info about it was not easy lol).

So what strains are you into growing? Ever grow outside up there? I'm in Southeast Michigan and Blue Cheese, Chem D, Detroit Lemonade, and Skywalker all seem to do very well here.

Sup from north west lower Michigan. South of manistee area.
Oh so near Lake Michigan? Nice! Part of me feels like we should be talking about Coney Dogs and Ginger Ale and Euchre lol.

I was born here in Michigan and moved to Montreal for a year, and was confused that there's a "Michigan Hotdog" in Quebec that has Spaghetti Sauce on it lol. I was like "WTF I've never even seen that before" lol.

About 10 years ago my stoner buddy was walking downtown, and came across a moose! That moose made the paper.

I've got a decent stash of Bodhi beans, but I bought a few clones a while back so I've been growing those out. One is Helen Back by Swamp Boys, the other is GMO. I haven't flowered out the GMO yet, but I'm currently in the middle of harvesting some Helen Back.

As far as outdoor growing, I always tend to run into problems, so I mostly just grow veggies now.

Ohhhh ! I LOVE GMO! I've got 3 seedlings in the tent right now :) I'm gonna see how it does outside this year. Blue Cheese and Chem D seem to love our cool climate and I love growing them lol.

I haven't heard of that Helen before, how is she?

Frosty, and definitely a cookies cross based on how it hermied on me after a single light leak. Also could have been because I didn't lollipop them, it's my first run with her so I'm not really sure.

I believe @BH has the same cut, acquired through Dookie farms, so he can probably give you more info on her than I can at this point.
Ohhh Yaw? Me too Eh!!!

Outdoor in my neck of the woods (quite literally) is a real challenge. I've done it with marginal success, but it's a crapshoot at best.
Unless you're holding something with a really early flowering trigger, like late July, the finished flowers are weak dick.... Or, operating with some sort of greenhouse.
Yah der, don'cha know it. I had a nice large greenhouse before I started growing, but it collapsed under the snow load years ago

It's funny to hear all you rural Michiganianites checking in. I only became aware of the UP not that long ago. (I think someone posted a song by the Yoopers on here)

Up here in western Canada, if you say Michigan, almost everyone thinks Detroit(Red Wings) and has almost no other point of reference.

im very suprised helen back isn’t more well known cause man she’s a bad girl

easy to trim, no crap popcorn , can be multi topped crazy for high yields np , she has amazing bag appeal, one of my top yeilders both indoors and out. High Mold and bug resistance . Very easy to grow, self supportive
if I was growing monocrop she would def be in my top 5 fosure

Yes Im about 10 minutes from Lake Michigan. Love it here.

Lol I might have to try this Michigan hotdog! Although I too have never heard of such a thing.

Damn that Helen sounds superb!

Lol yeah the Michigan "hotdog" was odd for me being that I had never heard of someone adding Spaghetti Sauce to a hotdog Haha! I do miss "steamies" though with the square buns they have in Quebec, and Poutine of course (with proper teeth squeaking illegal curds) and seeing a show at Foufs (saw Nekromantics there) but Michigan is fun and the snow isn't as bad lol.

So up in Yooper turf for fast flowering is it because of the snow ? I know we aren't quite as early "down here" but for real that early before the crop suffers?

Bounced around different spots in the mitten the last few years. Hamtramck, Lexington, Kalkaska, and back down just north of Detroit for now. I know there's a decent number of us roaming around here at pH.

Yeah I remember you talking about that Spark in the Park getting cancelled recently. We almost have enough for our own Spark in the Park haha! I'm north of Detroit too but spent a LOT of time there. I mean I do love an actually properly made Coney and once you get too far across 8 Mile that becomes more difficult than it should be LOL.

I know they're suburban, and you're probably aware, but they sell National Coney Island chili at most grocery stores around Michigan. Comes in a tube like sausage or ground beef, and you just water it to your preferred consistency while heating it up. Not exactly a Coney from the hood, but damn good or better when you're whipping up your own Coneys at home!

A Michigan (and whoever wants to travel) meetup could be cool. You know "Hot Box Social", the states first smoking lounge, is opening in Hazel Park soon.
They'll be open for private booked events within the next month, and to the general public sometime this year too.
Kalkaska is supposed to be the next closest place to opening one after that. I think Detroit has approved like 20 or 30 lounges, but nobody is close to opening, that I know of.
Just private venues so far.
Maybe we could create some kind of harvest cup or festival in the fall / winter, at some point, depending on interest.
