Mixing a bunch of strains together

I, probably like a lot of you, have a lot of seeds I’ll never get to. I’m thinking about taking the ones that are older first and planting them all together and then do an open pollination. I’m thinking the pheno hunting would be crazy with all the diversity. The only con I can think of would be the different plants having different feeding and care needs.

Has anyone done this before? Thoughts?

I think doing some pheno hunting before pollination might be a good idea. Plant a wack of beans and then watch closely and cull without mercy at any sign of unwanted traits. Maybe even do that a few times, and then put the winners together for an orgy.

Like Amarok said I'd also ruthlessly cull any runts or other problematic plants prior to the pollen party but otherwise I don't see why this wouldn't result in some fun progeny.

I won’t have enough room for all those clones so it’ll be a seed only hunt, but I’m going to do it. Of course now I’m questioning what it’ll be like growing plants in a tent with such different heights which I’ve never done before. I’ll do 12/12 from seed in 1 gallon pots to keep the plants shorter (hopefully). Columbian Gold is going to be in the first batch. I have a 4x8 shorty tent and plan on a 20 plant grow. I could do about 50 in there but I want to start slow. Does my basic plan sound okay?

I’m going to be in over my head, but f it that’s the best way to learn in my opinion.

What books or resources do you recommend for someone that wants to get beyond being a pollen chucker? Am I going to be able to with limited space?

Keep the top guns breed the top guns with the other top guns. Alright, enough of the top gun movie quotes but you get my drift. Unless you require me to sing a rendition of you've lost that loving feeling .......

I grow multi strains every grow minimum of 16 to 20 or so plants to start in a 4x9 canopy.
I use a net to keep everything spaced from the lights evenly.

grow em in party cups/smallest size u got, flip em after 1-2 weeks of veg, reveg any known keepers. now that removes long veg time, over using ur room for runts and removes the pre taking of clones .

bam you got a good tester of what pheno’s shine and don’t without having a field or acres, shoot u can put over 100 in a 4x8 in party cups, over 50 with 1 gal

Glad I dipped back and read this post. You just got my brain spinning..I have way to many crosses just sitting and would maybe never be touched....Hmmm?
