Well, seeds that are soaking are looking good today though none are ready to be planted yet, which is good because the Gelato #33 stretched to where it was falling over yesterday, so I turned the light to 100% on the Veg side, and moved it, and when it was doing that again today I put some chop sticks in with it to hold it up until I re-pot it and bury it in soil LOL.
I was really concerned about burning the plants, and that Gelato #33 is literally the ONLY seed we found of that one, so I was more worried about burning it than it stretching as I can just do as I've said and plant it deep and let it go that way so I'm not worried about it much (I've had seeds do this before, and last year, which was my first time using seeds, that happened with like a few of them, and after they were in a new pot and I buried them deeper in so the stem wasn't so long, they all did good) I am still learning of course; This is officially my 4th time growing Weed (Amazing to think how it all started with a single clone of Blue Cheese LOL.... Had no idea WTF I was doing, but spent that Winter reading and using nutes for the first time the next season) but I've learned a lot!
I also enjoy experimenting with different growing methods, like last season when I did Hawaiian Sunshine sideways and doing little pruning techniques. I personally don't remove shade leaves unless they're yellow, but I DO prune off branches. What I generally do, is watch the plant grow, and once it gets to a certain point, I remove some of the lower branches that would be the most likely to snap off or get in the way, and the shade leaves near those branches, generally seem to turn yellow and die after about a week or two of taking the branch, and I had taken that as "The plant empties that leaf of nutrients and then allows it to drop off" and once I've done that to a few branches, the plant seems to respond by growing upwards, and into that wooden structure that I've posted pictures of before.
I try to pay attention to results when I grow; The season before last, I had TWO Motor Breath clones, and they spent most of the Summer with me over watering like an idiot, and looking yellow like they were gonna die, and when I finally realized what was happening, and started only watering to give nutrients or soil booster stuff, the plants bounced back enough to flower decent sized buds that made them bend over with a parabolic bend not unlike a loaded Ugly Stik LOL.
The Seeds I got from those buds, are what I used last season to grow my single Motor Breath plant, and my soon to be Father in Law treated his Motor Breath the same way he did Skywalker and Detroit Lemonade, and it reacted pretty much the same, so I decided to experiment this passed season with the pruning method I use to get the plant really tall, and it worked really well; Went from having two clones almost die all summer, to a single seedling that filled two of the one pound Grove Bags this passed season.
That didn't include the multiple branches that snapped off during storms... so over 2 pounds off single Motor Breath plant, I was very pleased with that. Motor Breath is a pain in the ass to get started mainly because even being off to the far side from the light, it would literally burn up. I finally noticed one day that it was growing sideways away from the light and figured out "Ahh.....too much light" and so we used the shitty light to start Motor Breath, and that actually worked enough to get one outside.
It's the only strain that seems to do that out of all of them I've grown which is just odd. Blue Cheese, Chem D, and Skywalker were directly under the light and did great, but a few Motor Breath cooked being s far away from that light as possible. Ah well, it's a Chem cross, and we have the other light, so I'll use it for just the Motor Breath.
Gelato #33 seems to be a lot like Blue Cheese in that it'll take as much light as you have haha. I'm not that worried about it though as I'm basically just hoping that it's a female so we can get a clone or two, and then, of course, being a hermie seed, we should be able to get more seeds off the plant and keep that strain. The Wife REALLY loved it so Hopefully it'll be a girl
She also shares that Cheese love I have; The UK Cheese we got to try last year she really liked too, and of course Blue Cheese LOL.
Anyway, other than repotting some of the stretchers in the group, all the plants are doing good
I also need to remember this year that when I'm taking seedlings in for a chop I need to mark WHICH one LOL! I got to try Grease Monkey last year and we found TWO seeds of it in the bag, and BOTH seeds ended up being female, but when I was taking them down, I just marked both of them Grease Monkey, instead of Grease Monkey 1 and Grease Monkey 2 as I probably should have since they may have had totally different smells and tastes. Ah well, I've got more Grease Monkey seeds from last season's buds so if they both end up being female, I'll mark them 1 and 2 LOL.
Happy early Easter everyone!
