Alright it's time for a quick update...

Last Sunday (Sept 27th) the beans were directly sowed in 1.5'' x 1.5'' rockwool cubes. After three days there were 3/4 that surfaced, one of the Ethos Glue RBX2 was growing back into the rockwool so I gently guided the radical to the surface with a toothpick. After one week and seeing very little growth on the runt, another was sowed this past Sunday and she should be popping through the surface any day now.

Both Slurricane's have shown rapid root development and were transplanted into 6'' x 6'' delta blocks last night. The non-runt EG RBX2 hasn't shown any roots through the rockwool so until she does she'll remain in the 1.5'' x 1.5'' cube.

So last week I was also dealing with some nutrient / reservoir issues. Two days after filling the reservoir I noticed a bunch of lightweight, dark colored material floating around and coating the reservoir. I was puzzled about why this occurred and couldn't put my finger on what was causing it. My guess was the 2ML/Gal calimagic I was adding. So I drained the reservoir, cleaned it, cleaned all the tubing and lines, and filled it back up. I mixed a fresh batch of nutrients and two days later, same exact thing. So I drained the reservoir one more time, cleaned everything again, and filled it back up with water and mixed in nutrients again. This time no Calimagic was added. It's now been 5 days and the reservoir has remained crystal clear. Moving forward the Calimagic will be something I'll probably put in a foliar spray and mix up fresh each time.

Current reservoir settings: 25 gallons water | 45G Jacks 5-12-26 | 30G Cal-Nit | 15G Epsom | PH 5.8 | PPM 580 | Running Jacks 321 at 1/2 strength for the first 3-4 weeks.

Since this is my first run using rockwool only I've done a fair amount of research on prepping the rockwool for plants. Three days ago I filled a bucket with nutrient water and soaked the delta blocks thoroughly. Afterwards I placed the empty (wet) blocks on the table in the tent until the seedlings were ready for transplant. As mentioned above, the two Slurricanes were transplanted last night, but one rockwool cube still remains empty. I have a feeling the EG RBX2 will be ready today or tomorrow.

With the Slurricanes being transplanted into delta blocks last night, I'm waiting until later this week to do any watering. I read that it's recommended to wait several days after transplanting into a wet delta block to allow the roots to navigate and get their footing. I don't want to deprive the roots of oxygen by overwatering and the blocks seem to hold a ton of water, they get pretty heavy.

Last thing... the automated drain pump is legit. In the past when I've emptied a full res (20-30 gal) I've used a water pump to pump the water into 5 gallon buckets and hand pour them out into the laundry room sink. Last week when I had to empty/refill the reservoir twice (25 gallons each time), I testing out running the water pump directly to the drain reservoir that sits below the table instead of 5 gallon buckets. The result was flawless. The automated pump handled all the inbound water because the GPH is higher than the pump I was using to drain the reservoir into it. Long story short is this makes my life easier and saves my back too.

You and I both. What's funny is they were freebies from my order of Hyper Fuel from JBC Seeds. My understanding is Fletcher released them as a big f-u to IHG for using Do-Si-Dos in a bunch of their unworked crosses and charging an arm and a leg for them while at it.

Archive strains will always have a place in my garden. The Rainbow Belts and Hyper Fuel I ran were both phenomenal. I'm happy to see he's been doing a lot of feminized work as of late too.

I should also mention that I'm not trying to bash IHG in my previous post. Their Sugarcane and Fierce Animal I grew are both top notch Grade A smoke. I'm not privy to all the behind the scenes bickering and batter between breeders. In my previous post I'm just regurgitating what I heard in regards to the 'beef' between Archive and IHG and why they both released their version of Slurricane.

Ive got Sluricane on my radar and want to get the right one.

The one nock I've heard about the IHG Slurricane is it's a low yielder. I have a friend on IG who heads a sizable legal grow in the UP of Michigan and he's got a fair amount of experience with it in his personal garden. It looks great, smells great, gets ya real stoned, but just doesn't yield much. I suppose there is a reason he still keeps it around though.

To piggyback on that point. Both Sugarcane I recently ran were low yielders. They probably yielded 1.75 oz per plant whereas I'm usually closer to 2.5oz per plant. Nonetheless it was AAA+ smoke. Sugarcane is platinum x slurricane.
I'm running the deluxe and what a huge dif. I'd probably never run the original just cause of the low yeilds, but man it's some of the most beautiful bud I've ever seen .

I have a few from archive atm , but they are new to me . Any suggestions from them would be highly appreciated

You're lucky my guy! Definitely keep that around, that PSC looks amazing. The fact you're getting legit yields off it makes it even sweeter.

And I'm kind of speaking in generalities and only giving anecdotal experience regarding IHG and yields. Their Fierce Animal I grew yielded nicely. The sugarcane didn't, but like I said the quality of smoke was amazing. So take what I say with a grain of salt, I'd need to grow out way more IHG to be able to tell you if low yields is common among their plants.

Oh dude I hear ya 100 . I am trying everything they got to determine who is worth crossing. There are a few good yeilders . The slurmints 9 and slurricane 9 were my best . But I am starting to run more archive , solfire and jb atm. I need to see what they have to offer. I try and give everyone a fair chance

Everything from Archive is top notch, I don't care what strain it is. What I like about Archive is his breeding practices. It just seems like he's really refined the way he makes selections on his regular genetics. On the fem side I'm sure it's much easier because it's crossing fire with fire. But there's just something about his practices and types of plants he has that appeals to me.

Back in 2014 shortly after Denver went rec, I made a trip out there to visit. I was talking shop with this budtender and he was the one who turned me onto Archive. I remember him specifically telling me to check out a strain called "Valley Girl".

Actually about a week ago I was on the phone with Matt from Dankonomics Genetics catching up. We were shooting the shit and talking shop as well. We seem to always get into these conversations about other breeders and what fire is out there, who does a good job and who just steals work of other breeders. Matt made it clear he's a fan of Archive as his words were "he's a damn good breeder, one of the best out there".

In terms of what you should run, mind sharing what you have? I typically like to run strains that are opposites of each other. So if I'm running a couple gassy strains, I typically run fruity / sweet strains along side it to have variety at harvest.

Hell yes we are. I've always wanted to try my hand growing some land race type strains, but with the polyhybrids on the market today getting 20-30% THC and phenomenal flavor to boot, it's a no brainer. Weed is turning into space weed.
It's crazy , like what's the limit . What can that plant handle as far as percentage before it can't grow properly. What an awesome issue to look forward to.

I was more trying to get ideas of what to purchase . But atm I have scooby snacks and sherbadough going.

Ohhhh. Well you already got two great things going lol. The scooby snacks will likely be pedal to the metal gas since it's that Face Off OG male crossed to the GSC. I'm not familiar with Sherbadough, my guess is Sunset Sherbet x Doughlato? I'm sure that'll be top notch as well with a completely different terpene profile.

As far as my recommendations for Archive strains, I've only grown two.. Hyper Fuel & Rainbow Belts. Both were AAA+ top shelf, high calyx to leaf ratio, great smells, structure, everything all around was great. The rainbow belts in particular were loved by lots of people I shared it with.

The Creme Fraiche I grew like 1-2 years ago was really good, and although it's not an Archive strain, it was a dosidos male used in that cross. That was a great greasy strain too.

Things look like they are about to get good. I'll be checking in here for sure. Really interested in seeing how those ethos glue turn out.

Rayyyy. Thank you. Ethos is another breeder I think is criminally underrated. He may be a criminal but he's a damn good breeder. What I like is he will reverse something and grow that out, back cross it to the original, grow that out and back cross it again. He's got to be one of only a few breeders that puts out consistent RBX lines.

I was trying to get some information on the Glue RBX2 but couldn't find anything online, which leads me to believe it was unreleased. These were freebie seeds though. There are however RBX3 seeds out for sale that have information available. These must have been seeds he used while working out that line.

My personal theory is we're getting close to maxing out what plants are capable of producing. I'll be surprised to see it ever go over 35-38%, but don't hold me to that because the future can indeed be unpredictable.

By the time we have 35-38% weed I'm sure people will be more concerned with CBD, terp profiles, and other present cannabinoids that the high THC might not matter as much. Who knows.
