“On the nutrients”
So this run I changed up my nutrition. I faithfully have used Roots Organics Soul Line for 6 years straight. I have used it for everything veggies in the garden, houseplants, every living plant in my care. I always justified using it because I knew it, and it worked for me in my environment. But, I’m old and getting lazy, I remember back when we didn’t ph nothing, we didn’t care about EC unless you grew hydro, we really never used calcium nitrate or epson salt, just watered. There was nothing called cal-mag, that I remember.
Anyhow, I find myself always thinking about the old days, everything these days is so complicated, I dislike this. So I want to introduce “Cold War Organics” Yes, I was skeptical, anything that has Organics in the name has me a bit weary. 55E05B96-8BF8-4CE1-984C-D5693B894050.jpeg
Now I know what many might think, it can’t be organic, it’s another nutrient maker, so on and so on. A life long friend who lives in Shasta county, sent some to me to try, he told me you don’t never ph the nutrient, you use tap water straight from the sink, no 24 hour letting water sit to dissipate chlorine. None of that, there is no cal mag to add, no other inputs, yes really no other inputs, nothing. I’m stunned with the results, the plants will tell you when there is an issue. Besides the cold temps the plants are doing extremely well, with this stuff, one issue I had was one OG Kush, which in my experience are calcium hogs, got two little rust spots, I contacted Cold War and they suggested I feed the “bud bread” full strength with “coming of age” full strength to combat calcium deficiency. Bud bread is the veg formula and coming of age is flower, angels touch is basic kelp and humic acids. As instructed I did just that and it went away, still no other inputs no top dress, nothing.
No checking ph, no EC, no Cal mag.
Anyone using this stuff?
I just wanted to share, plus I’m stoned as fuck, I’m rambling on.

Welcome back @thesunnyvalekid. Glad to have you back. This looks like the makings of a good journal. So we can either move it there or you can start a new one.
I wouldn’t consider it a journal, it’s not a start to finish grow, more like observations. Daily thoughts to share, when the new seeds pop I will start one. Thanks for the welcome home Spy!

Also, I’m building out my new flower room as we speak, the veg room is not complete, so I’m not really showcasing any of my efforts yet. Just sharing in the community. The Sunnyvale Kid rides again!

So, I’m thinking what about automation. I do have experience with drip lines for veggies to far for the hose outside, but no inside experience I have always watered by hand mixing up the solution in a 5 gallon bucket for the last 30 years or so. I’m in the process of building out my new photo flower room, just exclusively for 12/12 environment, so water automation I’m looking at.
I water to waste presently twice a day in a special coco mix which consists of coco, bio char, worm castings, rice hulls, if the roots don’t eat up all the soil I reuse it once. I use 1 gal rain science bags for autos and two gallon for photos I been doing it this way for years. It works that’s all, no better than water only soil, it just works for my environment. I do know I could get bigger plants, more weight, so on with bigger pots, Im not interested in working any harder than I already do, the younger crowd can do that.
Wow I’m rambling again, sorry guys.
Back to topic, watering anyone got any ideas, pick your brain?

sorry for your loss, glad you have made it back here. Hope the new home is treating you well. We looked at a different home recently but the basement was garbage. The rest of the place can be a palace but if theres nowhere to grow...i wont go!
