Community wise i would rather take small amount of good users
This.
This, this, this, this.
It's just the law of averages. The more active members, the greater variety of personalities and the more opportunity for conflict. Also, as more people become active, it's hard to keep track of who is who and the sense of "this is our little community" dissipates.
I still think there are a LOT of great people here, but we've definitely evolved from the early days. I hope our next version still has the sense of
goodness. I think that is the most important thing about this place: there are a lot of truly kind and generous people here, the kind of person who takes genuine pleasure from helping others, through sharing seeds or cuts or those most valuable of commodities, knowledge and experience and time.
If we can retain that essential quality of simple decency, we'll be fine, wherever we end up as a community.
Edit: at the same time, we could be a bit more street smart. Kind is great, but we don't have to be pushovers.
