My thermometer read -4.5 C when I got up today. The forecast low was +4, so I'm hoping gardeners still managed to protect any outdoor plants.
It's funny to see the neighbors wrapping their pumpkins in blankets for the night. Never realized they needed to be tucked into bed.
Still planning on wetting a line today, but haven't decided on river or lake. I'll let the sun come up and chase off a bit of the chill before I decide.

So like 27 degrees Fahrenheit? I've had plants out in that before but putting a blanket on them didn't cross my mind lol

You can also add buckets of hot water under the plants for more radiant heat under the blanket/sheet! Or hot rocks.. what ever works…
Just don’t let the sheet/blanket touch the plant matter, so the frost hits the sheet and isn’t transferred to the plant.

Rockwool, so easy, so versatile, I buy it in slab and just cut my cubes from that.. just have to keep in mind the direction of flow If you’re using Grodan ( yup, it’s directional!) Direction of flow markers are indicated on the side or bottom of the slab.?
Here in Canada I pay 11$ and change per slab, vs 35$ for cubes.. no brainer…
