Anyone know how to find a growing mentor?

I will toss out a "Heads up" about dehumidifiers for you.

Many of the home grade dehums don't turn back on once you've turned the power supply off. So if your InkBird, or whatever controller you use, shuts the dehum off because the humidity is in the set zone, when the humidity rises again, and power to the plug is applied again, the dehum won't come back on.

You have to make sure that the unit comes back on when power is re-applied. I use a brand called Comfee (Midea is the manufacturer). My model works with my setup, because it comes back on. I fluked out when I bought it, not even having thought of this, so I want to warn people.

So, if you buy one from a store, ask them if they know. If not, ask if you can plug it in. If they let you, plug it in and turn it on. Give it a few seconds. Leave it powered on, but unplug it. Give it a second, then plug it back in. If it lights up, you're good to go. If it doesn't, you don't want that dehum on a controller. You can still use it, in a permanent fixed type setup where it just runs automatically, but you won't be able to control it's power state with an InkBird.

If you go thru Amazon, or online somewhere, check the reviews and check the FAQ/question section before buying. People often ask this question with dehums because many are in the same boat, and many are using them for cannabis growing. They may not want it running all the time and they want to control it, so you often see this question asked and answered.

Thanks David. As I start to envision my entire setup/grow I’m just thinking about the power chords etc I’m gonna need, but also how these timers inkbirds etc and cycles will impact this. I think this will make more sense once I have everything laid out in front of me. Def purchasing the inkbird with the two in one. Is there any wifi connectivity w these units available to show me what the temp and RH are? Or is this what you were relaying above with the automation?

when he refers to hydro

he means a fertilizer soluable into the water , no matter what medium your applying

if it was “dry amend “ via on top dressing, that’s a whole different game and jacks isn’t that

like I said, under a 100 bucks can do 2-3k of gallons of fert vs hydro store versions and it’s 90% water vs Highly concentrated mixes

Yes you can get wifi enabled ones. I won't pretend to know exactly what it entails. I'd have to look into it, but I assume a notification, and possibly controls ie you may be able to override it and just turn your exhaust on, and remotely from outside your network. Maybe status updates, maybe the current temps/humidity.
I'll take a peak.

If I was to do it, I would get the ones with dual timezones, so I can set limits for night (lights off) and daytime (lights on), and if I could get it with wifi, I'd do that too. So many models I have a hard time keeping track now lol

My reply to this comment is, don’t over think the little nuances before you even start. I spent over two months reading, planning, drawing, building......and now a little over a year after my room was running, I’ve readjusted, added or removed things ten times! It’s not over yet either. The best way to describe indoor growing, at least from my view point as somewhat of a newbie is, it’s a science project with ever changing variables. As frustrating as it can get sometimes, I still find solace in my rooms! My girlfriend calls them my zen rooms?

I have yet to yell “SERENITY NOW!!!” While in the rooms! Haha

This!

I now have 2 Eco5 commercial airpumps, 2 Eco1 airpumps, 4 PawFly airpumps, 3 extra submersible pumps, grow bags out the ass, piping out the ass, fittings, hose clamps, spare cheap fans, spare not so cheap fans, extra speed controllers, extra clip-on fans, a closet full of crap....all leftovers from switched out projects.

The good thing is I have access to all this still though. I may want to automate some stuff etc. Always morphing lol!

best way to have room temperature water and also make sure it’s brewed every 12-24 hours no problem so you can water the at any amount Inless big operation . Key is to clean your Rez inbetween refills and scrub it and wash it down like a kitchen plate. Meaning you need to scrub the Rez vs just trying to clean it with just washing it with water since a lot of the contamination will stick. Than after first stage water I would highly suggest to sterile the Rez and have a ease of mind the bad pathogens are at bay .

clean and scrub Rez with water, than dump the water, than spray the Rez with hydrogen peroxide or what I suggest a virusicide like pysan 20 and leave it on the surface for 15 minutes min and then rinse off because you don’t want to harm your mediums beneficial bacteria or fungi. Key is you want to balance and kill the bad pathogens so they don’t ever colonize in your medium by a contaminated Rez or organics making it flare like a wild fire.

apply at 1.5 tablespoon per gallon ( that’s black mold and 99.9 killing and if left on surface for defense for 14 days as long as it’s not rinsed)

since in Rez and you don’t wanna hurt the beneficials, that’s why u re-rinse it after 15 minutes vs leaving on

For water/feed storage black Rez (you want your water to be protected from light ) than for automation of your plants no matter what ur map of your room is I highly suggest A little giant pump + food grade hose + commercial grade wand like dramm

= easy as fuck watering system and you can water each plant as a individual since I’ve noticed by even pheno or how mature they are - def intake differently . Too many people before they don’t understand growing and nutes they want to overcomplicate their watering system and are asking for system failures as well when it can be so easily avoided .

key reason I state “food grade hose” vs not, a non food grade hose is not intended for even veggies cause the rubber made from it can be consumed from that and being the cost bs risk is not worth it in anyway . You can easily get a 25-50ft food grade for under 5o bucks.

I water 50-100 gallons in just a few minutes and hardest part is emptying waste water, cleanup inbetween. Cleaning rez’s and remaking the fertilizer brew. Boohoo

a little giant are around 100 bucks depending on what model you get and all you gotta do is throw it in the Rez with ur hose + wand connected and plug the Pump into power

keep it simple and you could easily have a small crew or just one person and feed and work on acres or 100’s of plants at least np vs making it over worked and asking fir failure

i have the 310 for temp not the 308 but i just used that link...there's a few diff ones out there
the 308 is good and i think you can get that in a set if you look and save 30 bucks or so

This is very important. Most are junk, so you will want a spare or two. Same with timers, get extras.
Agreed.

I'll throw this out for the OP and anyone interested, I personally recommend Holmes 6" fans. Best clip-ons I've found by far. I have 7 going right now in my smaller tents. 4 of them are over two years old and you can't tell the diff between them or the newest 3 as far as performance and sound. Only by a little grime build up on the cages.

Heavier than most other clip-ons, they just seem super tight. They move air and they are quiet as hell.
